Forums - Nintendo - IGN's glowing Goldeneye preview.

Loved the original Goldeneye for Nintendo 64, so I'll certainly be getting this game come the holidays.

Not sure if I will be able to pick this up right away... my number one game for the holiday season is Epic Mickey, which just needs to be bought as soon as possible no matter what, and I also plan to work on my huge backlog of games for both GC and Wii (and maybe PS2).

However, this game looks fantastic and I definitely do want it sooner or later.

I think I'm the first person to say I won't be buying GoldenEye. I was going to I actually had it pre-ordered until I played it at PAX. I wanted the classic game but the demo I played was in a new level, when i asked the developer he said that it wasn't so much a remake as a re-imagining and that it was not going to be like the origional for the most part. He's like "Its a whole new game" I guess he thought that would impress me , but I liked the origional as it was and after playing I want a remake not re-invisioning.

Now after the game comes out and I rent it to get a better idea of how good a game it is I might buy it. But for now I'm going to pass I pulled my pre-order and placed the money down on Epic Yarn instead. PAX really effected which titles I am buying except for Donkey Kong that was a given.

They can't just use the old game's levels. That would just make a legal mess with Rare.

Nope because Activision has the bond liscense. Rare owns the rights to the code and thats about all. As long as the remake was a 100% new product Rare and Microsoft wouldn't be able to do a thing. Its like if hollywood remakes a movie, the rights to the origional belong to the origionals creator but the new film can be made by a different publisher as long as it doesn't re-use any of the origional content.

I was about to post this and another article that had and I quote

"though this is Wii – weaker in visual capabilities than the 360 and PlayStation 3 – GoldenEye is a pretty sexy looking game, and I hate to insult the guys at Bizarre Creations, but I'm convinced that, at this point in development, GoldenEye looks far superior to Blood Stone on the 360 and PS3, at least when you take into account the limitations Eurocom has to work with on Wii".

If you don't believe me see the article for yourself! -> http://wii.ign.com/articles/111/1119861p1.html

So, what do you guess my answer is now?

"there will be a variety of difficulty levels to choose from. The hardest: 007 Classic, a throwback to the classic GoldenEye design where you have your on-screen health and armor as half-circles on either side of your targeting reticule, and the only way to repair a hurt Bond is to find armor pick-ups along the way."

So for those not liking the CoD health system, you can just use that.

Thank god! My interest in this has been rejuvenated. Still, I'm not 100% certain I'll be buying it.

What makes you think the code didn't relate to the levels?

Well Activision owns that IP, so it's not technically one.
