Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo start an internet revolution?

I began thinking about how everything Nintendo and technology companies do tends to effect much larger spectrums. This got me thinking the 3DS will not only revolutionalize gaming but could revolutionalize the Internet. Now your wondering how this would occur so I'll begin to explain.

Well simple with the 3D having a 3D screen and an internet browser, this will mean sites will want to utalize this technology. Just as many sites adapt for the I-Phone etc...etc... sites will begin to adapt for 3D on the 3DS. Things like a 3D FaceBook for example. A place to share the 3D pictures you take with the 3DS and maybe even some 3D videos will pop up online.

In the end websites will probubly begin to offer 3D content and if 3DS becomes as big as DS did for example that will make a huge market for online 3D content. Then in the future as other 3D viewing devices go public these devices will also use the 3D content pioneered by Nintendo.

I bet their will be a 3D ap for FaceBook within months of launch, then when a company wants to show off a new 3D movie trailer, well I bet there will be 3DS support. Game trailers in 3D a given with the 3DS. Then how about TV and companies like NetFlix will probubly begin to air 3D content 3DS compatable.

In the end Nintendo might start a 3D revolution on the internet. Am I the only one seeing this revolution?

Soon, I'll be able to stalk all 2000 fb "friends".

if the browser supports flash or HTML5 or possibly some other web video standard maybe, if not I doubt it...

Oh hells noe. Just imagine the 3D Internet advertising...Yeah, you are sitting their perusing a site and an ad taking up both sides of the webpage pops out and obscures what you are viewing...This is a future advertisers would drool over because we could no longer avoid, mute or skip their advertising.

Total invasion of sight. No thank you.

it's already happening with youtube videos and its variant. Annoying pop-in that you have to click to close them while the video plays.

Its irrelevant for me to be honest.

But I was thinking about it for the next nintendo home console.

I mean, they will come up with something disruptive, and while there may come out a better version of the wiimote, the next big innovation waiting to happen is "casual" online connectivity. Xbox Live is a great service people say, but this is a very restricted network if you think about the millions of people that play online on micro website and facebook apps.

I'd like to see a system were everyone (even people that buy it just for 2 games) is connected online, and could locate each other easily, and let's imagine, you could see people living near you with their Super Wii and what they're playing, challenge them for a game like you would do if you were on the street and saw someone and invited him to your place. Even without being a friend on the network. All of this on a google earth like user interface.

I think the next logical disruptive thing for Nintendo would be this. Just look at 3DS and its heavy connectivity focus. Super Wii might be something like that on a much more bigger scale.

It does kinda sound like something they'd approve of, but I doubt they'll do it. They'd need to spend millions restructuring their lackluster network, and probably have monthly or annual fees for consumers.

I would like to see a more earnest Nintendo approach to Second Life or Home. I hope it comes with Wii Speak 2.0, or wireless Bluetooth headsets as I don't care for the corded ones.

Nintendo will definately spark a trend, by 2013, all the smartphones, pdas and portable media players will have 3d screens. Millions of people will be regularly using 3d screens to view internet pages and movies so I expect most companies to take advantage of it.

Nintendo has zero interest beyond gaming, that's what they are concentrated on and that's why they are so amazing.

you didn't follow the info from Nintendo's conference did you? They already confirmed that they will be partnering up in Japan to distribute 3D video content. Also with the addition of some form of web browser on the 3DS it is clear that they are moving to offer more than just gaming. But gaming is still their main focus and other features are built around that.
