Have you ever tried meditation? Just repeat to yourself "Peace, tranquility, love, light, happiness" with your eyes closed sitting in the cross legged or preferably lotus position(if it doesn't hurt too much for you), until you loose your sense of time. Eventually your brain will react and start being happy... I've meditated for over 15 hours like this and had it feel like only 20 minutes, because I went into a trance, and I feel so refreshed and happy afterwards.
