I'm just going to say that you can play closer than 6 feet from kinect. If the game happens to require to track whole body, the distance depends on your height... I guess you could use a webcam to measure the distance needed for you to play.

(don't own a webcam so I am not sure of what kind of lenses they use)

So for us taller individuals 6 feet might not be enough... disappointing cause that's all I got.

Yea. I am a lot taller than 6 feet and my living room isn't that big but it works for me. I don't even have to move my couch½

Just enough space for me and my friends in my room. Too bad it takes up so much space though for other people. I live in suburbs so rent isn't too high for a good sized house

the play distance is a bit limiting.  i have 5'10" from my wall to the edge of my couch.  i can open up another foot-ish if i move my couch but i don't really want to be moving it back and forth all the time.

also curious about the install.  i wonder how big that is?

..but whatever, from what i've seen on the games front so far i wasn't planning on getting it anyways.

You really only have 5'10", wow thats just crammed in there. Yo were do you live, you want to come to my house. My spare room has more room then that.  I'm not rich either. I pay 995 a month to rent a 3 bedroom house. You didnt' care for the new games announced at TGS?  I want it for family and friends when they come over. I got a ton of hardcore games but nothing that we can have some beers and have some competive fun. I'm 28 so I see the potential it has. also if my families kids come over it can entertain them as well.

Don't mean to rip on your place either just never  had a living room that small even with the couch involved. I've paid 600 a month and had a bigger room then that. I also live near chicago. so might be more expensive up here. but thats cheap. I see your point though I wouldn't want to move stuff around to play the device. I'm not trying to be rude if it sounds that way. sorry if it does.

in order that you asked.

1. yes.

2. downtown chicago, west loop/greektown to be as precious as i'm willing to say on the interwebz.  i pay 1825 for a "two" bedroom..."two" meaning 1 bedroom and my man cave.  suits my needs well enought but i wouldn't want to use it as an actual bedroom personally.

What, you pay $1800 per month??

For what, a little apartment??

Thankfully I have enough room, I do think 8ft is excessive though!

Are these instructions not just for set up? (not the space bit obviously) just configuring for the first time?

mostly, for the location.  i'm downtown chicago.  i'm renting a condo and in my building runs from about $350,000 - $3,000,0000 which is pretty standard for my neighborhood.

lol, not quite.  $1,825 comes to $21,900 in yearly rental fees.  between me and my fiancee we make around $140,000 to $155,000 (part of my wage is bonus so it changes).  that puts my rent around 15% of my income which is reasonable.
