Forums - Gaming - Almost only Ps3 games get delayed..?

Well to be fair, a lot of anticipated Nintendo games get delayed for QA, they make sure the game is really spot on before release, PS3 games often get updates after release for stuff like that so its more about the development time and the talent of the coders.

If you want some Wii games that were delayed Brawl was so they could tighten up a few things, we would have Zelda Skyward Sword this year but people complained about the graphics so they're working on that, it's actually odd to have Mario games out on time cause typically they get delays out the wazoo, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was delayed apparently to change the entire game and dumb down mechanics, there's a few others I could probably think up later

I always though a game needs to have an official release date before it can be delayed. Wasn't KZ2, GT5 and GOW3 release dates just speculated because they had long development times and a solid release date was never announced. I could be wrong but I've followed these games and I don't remember any release date announced before the dats they released/are releasing on. I heard something about a japanese release date for GT5 but was that an official announcement.

lets see you make games as massive as littlebigplanet 2 or dc universe by a set date, the point is, when your making huge games that have such a wide range of free play, you have to do a lot of troubleshooting and what not and thats basically what they are doing now.

He who hesitates is lost

I love how people say GT5 has been delayed. Nov 2, 2010 is the first time every Polyphony has set an actual release date. All other dates were speculation.

On topic: Yeah PS3 gets delayed a lot, and guess what? Even with all the delays it still has the best library of games.

With the list ps3 has for upcoming games i don´t care really there are plenty of other games to play.

I just wish that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would come clean with their release dates all the time.

I can understand some games shifting because of technical issues, and testing.  But, the thing we are seeing with Sony this generation is that they are announcing games multiple years before they get to a shipping state.  It is not normal to preview games for many years and it is unfair to the consumer.  It is essentially a desparate FUD marketing tactic to which all the console vendors have admitted to doing.  Unfortunately, Sony seems to be worse than others outside of the Naughty Dogg and Insomniac studios.

@geddesmond2... Killzone 2 and GT5 were announced at multiple E3's as shipping in the holiday season of the announcement years.  GoW III was announced as shipping in Spring 2009 at the 2008 Spike awards.  So there were at least date ranges given.  To be fair, Microsoft did the same with Alan Wake and Too Human.  And Nintendo has often delayed some of the Wii Mario games by only a few months though.

@cloud1161...  That's why technology people are paid big bucks to come up with games.  They are supposed to have enough knowledge to make accurate estimates.  I have been in technology for almost 20 years now.  I would get my ass fired if I announced in June that something was ready for the holidays and then delayed it another year.  I really think that this is a marketing ploy by Sony.  They place constant fear, uncertainity, and doubt in consumers minds that the next Sony game will be above all.  Thereby freezing consumers into believing they should wait rather than buying a 360 or Wii.

KZ2 was actually pegged for Fall 08 by SONY but was pushed back since they had Socom in September and Resistance in Nov, and the usual flock of holiday shooters.GG and SONY stated the game could have been released Fall 08, but It made sense to delay it.

GoW3 was never really delayed. That a release date was never announced before the actual release just like you said.

GT5's been delayed in Japan I believe but that's about it. Never had a release date anywhere else.

Everyone does it, the problem is Sony announce titles so much earlier than others that they're more susceptible to this happening more often.

Yeah but with KZ2 did it actually have a release date before the proper February 2009 release. I remember Sony and GGs saying at the Playstation Day in London they where moving Killzone 2 to February from fall but I don't remember an official release date being announced.

What's the Miyamoto quote?

A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.
