Forums - PC - the new Windows Live Messenger

have you installed it yet?

I like how I select "appear online" to specific contacts (I know, it's not new) and tabbed conversations. The themes are limited though and for some reason they don't apply to chatting windows which irritates me since I like everything to be themed black.

Thanks.

Pffft Pidgin FTW!!!!

Honestly I haven't used an MS based client in 5-6 years since I discovered things like Pidgin/Gaim, Digsby, etc. I can be logged into all my online networks with one application and receive updates, email notifications from multiple email domains and do audio/video chat on different protocols from one program.

I'll check out this new version like I do every version anyways though. Thanks for the info!

Pidgin is Gaim. They changed the name and they've been continuously improving it so it is better than when it was known as Gaim. The great thing about it is that there are versions for Windows, Mac and Linux. If you're on a Windows machine I'd recommend looking into Digsby as well. It has all the functions Pidgin has plus on the fly updates from social networks and it is overall more aesthetically pleasing out of the box. I still like Pidgin though because I like getting into the nitty gritty of software and customizing at the core.

Downloading Digsby right now, thanks! I'll make sure to download Pidgin after.
