I started with Nintendo , than PlayStation and now Xbox... Also had a DreamCast and have it yet. If apple comes into the business im all in for next gen being with Apple... i like changes but my favorite brand is Xbox.

yes. just alittle bit but not because of the consoles and there positions onthe market? its thw games and how great they been. never in my life time would i have imagined the level on wich we game today.
the only thing that surprises me is that we haft to defend our console of choice instead of playing the games we enjoy.
First system i ever played was in the 80's on the 2600. First Owned a NES.
Early 80's was a mess of systems and bad games.
But the wars didn't truly begin until the 16 bit era, nothing has come close to being true console wars like that was.
Amazing games on all platforms and Exclusive MEANT Exclusive. You wanted RPGs platformers and Nintendo, you went SNES. You wanted more Sports,Arcade and Sega you went Genesis or maybe you just wanted beat em ups and fighters so you got Turbo graphics 16...etc.. many other systems but each one was truly unique what types of games.
It was awesome. Hell in some ways it truly was a war as Sega and Nintendo went beyond competing brands but duked it out in courtrooms over things.
I could say so many things about that era. I still love gaming to death but now it's too corporate and mainstream and honestly the console "wars" are just big shows and sales charts. Oh and Fanboys and graphic whores. You didn't really have that then,at least not the negative spin it has now.
IMHO this is the worst gen ever, this was the first time when buying a console I had to look for which one sucked the least. THe Ps3 was stupid expensive for no reason, sure it had a bunch of crap on it, but was I ever going to use an SD card slot. Sony got too arrogant. MS and there crappy made product, and they had the nerve to act like it was normal?? Only now there making consoles that wont break after 2 months. and Wii my god, sure they brought motion to the mainstream, but the thing barely works, the VC gone to crap, the 3rd party support is the worst ive seen for a console in a while maybe ever. but the software is as good as ever.
and now panasonic introduced their gaming handheld jungle and lenovo kinect clone console this is a very intresting gen
There is no flame war like the war between c64 and ZX Spectrum. It has raged since 1982 and still garners flamage.
This is the copycat gen.
My most interesting gen was curiously GB vs GameGear. For some reason, many of my friends had a gamegear and I've went to the Gameboy instead. They would show me how the console could catch a TV signal and how awesome the games looked on that. Back in the time I thought I asked my folks the wrong console.
But then, Pokemon launched.
It is close, but the whole Genesis vs. SNES generation was much more interesting with a lot more drama and direct game-to-game confrontation. The whole Sonic vs. Mario battle easily takes the cake over Forza vs. Gran Turismo or on. There just isn't enough similarities between 1st party titles in this generation to make it better than the Genesis/SNES generation.
This is the first generation I'm looking at the race rationally and broadly.
I grew up on ninty. Played the competing consoles in the 4&5th gen in Genesis and PS1, but in my mind they weren't even close in terms of quality and controls. I had zero knowledge of the sales or critics. If you would have asked me as a youngster who was king of gaming I would have said a resounding nintendo.
6th Gen was bitter times. Ninty persistently curb-stopped my formerly favorite primeape DK. Mario and Zelda were less quality then what we were used to. Sony...I won't dive into that one.
All this is to say the only gen I feel I can comfortabally critique is this one. Perhaps I can look at the others retrospectivally, but it just doesn't have that same feeling. But this is an interesting gen for sure. Sales figures are not what was expected. Declaring who is at fault for nintendo's severe lack of 3rd party(nintendo's technical deficenncies or 3rd party irrational excuses). MS and Sony jumping on the motion bandwaggon. The market holding 3 relatively thriving consoles. Sony bringing in a slew of first party games. Pretty interesting I'd say.
