20 hours is now considered incredibly long? I really hate the average length of games this generation.

You cannot name a single generation where an action game being 20 hours long would be something besides an aberration.

Man, are you kidding me?  Snes games took anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.  Even megahits like Like Link to the Past and Super Metroid were only a couple of hours long if you knew where to go.  Battletoads, Bayou Billy, Castlevania 3, all of these games were tough as hell but could be beaten in about an hour and a half!  Resident Evil, Double Dragon, Brawl Bros., Metal Gear Solid, Starfox --I actually think games are longer than they were in the 8-Bit/16-bit eras and about the same as they ever were during the PS1-PS2 eras!!

But

But that's what I was saying

7.5 is not a bad fucking score, if you think that, you've got some fucked up issues lol.

ITs not the score, its the quote that makes me not want to play it...see avatar for reason why. :)

I would think that your avatar would be a reason to have confidence in it.

After all, Symphony of the Night was a pretty serious departure from the series norm. It wasn't a true Castlevania, remember - it was a lot closer to Metroid.

I don't know. Are you really saying that Lords of Shadown will move the series forward?

I am getting a feeling its more of a theatre production and existing established games rip off than something that is breaking any norm. I mean, QTE Titan fights? Really? Did they just finish the first 30 minutes of God of War 3 and decide to copy that?

However maybe you are right and a back to basics is needed for 3D castlevania to work. Super Castlevania and Bloodlines took the classic combat and platforming of the series as far as possible. SOTN took the next step in making combat still an aspect of the game however adding many more elements like weapon and item searching, leveling up, exploring the gigantic castle(s) and grinding. This may as well be too much for a 3D castlevania game to pull off so back to basics may be necesary...

I guess I'll try it and see.

i guess i am disappoint and excite at the same time. I'll buy castlevania, but not because it's castlevania.

and an ign 7.5 is like a 5 lol. as someone mentioned, might be the first of lower scores to come.

Just fought a huge boss that is straight out of God of War ( i won't spoil this) . The game is difficult and the boss fights are really old school requiring a lot of patience , even on the easiest setting .

Edit : I advanced quite a bit. Saying that people who love the 2d Castlevanias won't like this is retarded. The game is a platformer at heart , even the presentation is different than other action games . You have a really wide view of the surroundings and your character model is small, it's like playing a 2.5d platformer sometimes.

This is how i imagined a 3d Castlevania...

It's not bad, but considering the game in question, not amazing either...

Then it's just not an amazing game, there has never been an amazing 3D Castlevania, so why are people so worked up as this is actually the highest rated 3D one?

Wow , this game is epic !!! Lots of platforming and exploration (no backtracking unless you want to explore previous areas with new powers that unlock new goodies) . I have to congratulate Konami and Mercurysteam for making a game of this type so long and with such a big variety in levels. It really gives you a feeling of  a huge and epic journey that no other simila game has given you before .

7.5

Kinda less than what I expected after reading the review.

Also, isn't the framedrops only exclusive to the Xbox 360 version? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that somewhere.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow frame rate issues only affect review code Retail copies remain unnaffected

Written by Alex Seedhouse, 30 September 2010

The release of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is soon to be upon us, and Producer David Cox has clarified a few comments made within initial reviews regarding frame rate issues.

Responding to a query as to whether either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions are superior to each other, Cox writes "The games are identical," before explaining "The 360 review code had some issues with frame rates but not major and they are not in the final."

So, fans can at least rest easy knowing that they are safe to pick up either version as the retail copies remain unaffected.

Thanks.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
