Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo getting arrogant with 3ds the way Sony did with ps3?

I don't see 3DS being $300 as Nintendo being arrogant. The handheld seems to be near Wii in horsepower, has 3D without glasses, a camera, and several other features. I still think the 3DS will be $250 in the US, which is what I expected it to be.

I don't see the 3DS like the PS3 at all. If anything, I equate it much more to the PS2 - coming off a surprising smash hit, major third party support right from the start, seemingly no competition, pretty decent leap in horsepower, etc..

Sony wants you to spend $2000 for a 3D television, $100 on 3D glasses, and $400 for a PS3 Move. That's $2500 for Sony's 3D experience. What's that about arrogance?

Nintendo, on the other hand, is making a gorgeous, glasses-free 3d experience for a tenth of that price.

Let's sum up.

2 screens with one being a 800 x 240 glasses free 3D capable screen and the other a higher res touch screen than the DS.
3 cameras with 2 of them capable of 3D pics and generating augmented reality.
1 gyroscope and 1 accelerometer.
WiFi, SpotPass, StretPass, Microphone, Home functionality, built in apps, DSiWare transfer, 3DSWare, Virtual Console, Backwards comapatible with DS, extendable stylus, built in 1.5 GB storage plus bundled 2 GB SD card, 3D movies, 3D games and more for what should be about $250 in the US.

PSP launched for $250 6 years ago and many of you are calling the 3DS, with arguably the best launch line up in modern gaming history, too expensive at the same price?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

We need to decrease the concern that only software from Nintendo can sell well on Nintendo platforms and third parties’ software cannot sell in the same volume,” he said. “For the Japanese launch of Nintendo 3DS, so that we will not make a trend similar to the one found for Wii in Japan now, we feel a need to have closer ties with our third-party developers from the beginning.

Yeah, that's so arrogant.

Wasn't it cheaper to produce the handheld with 2GB internal memory rather than shiping it with a 2 GB card?

Also, there's some unnecessary details that rise the price such as the retractile metal stylus, Select button (who uses select nowadays?) and imo, the backlit.

So long as they Deliver, They can Be as Arrogant as they want.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

Yeah, PSP GO at $250 with no way to play your previous physical games vs. a brand new handheld at $250 (most likely).

Nintendo are a bunch of jerks!

Not sure. SD cards that size are likely very inexpensive due to volume, while internal memory would not have that price advantage.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

It's getting both.  1.5 GB internal and a 2 GB SD card.

and a tenth of the size to -_-

I seriously question the intelligence of people who honestly compare the experience and requirements of home entertainment to that of a fucking handheld......
