If it's real, it's not a bad strategy. If you can still do everything with it that you could with old Aibos, then it'll still sell to about as many people as before.
If it can do more, then it'll have a slightly larger market.
If it can do a LOT more if you have a PSP or PS3 to go with it, then (1) some people with a PSP or PS3 will be motivated to buy it, and (2) people who are stuck on what console to buy MAY be motivated toward Sony products instead of the competition.
Of course it's not a big motivation. But it CAN still influence a little.
