Makes sense cuz with Holiday season the game can get better sales BUT if they are releasing Gears 3 Fall or after I don't see MS releasing any other game on the same scale around that time, other than Forza Kinect cuz of the vast difference of genre.

So what do they have other than Kinect games to offer for the core crowd till this then?

Anyways before I get banned for derailing this thread I'd like to say that I'm kind of happy this got pushed back. I have a huge backlog of games (Reach, Red Dead and Infamous to be the most recent added to the list) and Spring already has enough games I won't get to right away as it's my last undergrad term. Woooo!

The last two weren't solid but flawed in ways that potentially could have been fixed with more time and now that G3 is delayed lets hope this intices them to release an over-the-top quality game. Epic: Gears of War 3 delay 'not a quality issue'

Epic has told us that delaying Gears of War from next April to autumn 2011 was "a business decision" and not "a quality issue".

Executive producer Rod Fergusson added that the game is on track to be the most polished Gears title yet.

"I know fans are going to be disappointed with the new release date, but rest assured that this is a business decision between partners, and not a quality issue," he said.

"Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall. 

"Next week we have a major multiplayer press visit at Epic HQ, and I'm really looking forward to the fans getting to see and hear about Gears 3 Versus multiplayer for the first time. Lots more exciting news to come."

Earlier today Gears of War 3 was delayed by a minimum of five months.

Explaining the shock move, Microsoft said that it wants the game to be "the marquee title for the holiday season", adding that "Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011."



Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Microsoft needs to get themselves some more studios.

Their focus has shifted a bit. They're really pushing Kinect and they may REALLY do that between Nov 2010 and the Fall of next year, to really get the message across. They probably have Forza 4 (or PRG5), Gears 3, and maybe Crytek's exclusive for their core fans, and leave the Jan - Sept months to let mutliplats and Kinect do the talking against Sony & Nintendo.



Crytek is still working on Crysis 2 which releases next year. I doubt Codename : Kingdoms is a 2011 release.

Problem with letting Kinect have all the attention during Jan-Sept could be really bad if Kinect doesn't take off, because if the casuals do not buy into it they won't have the hardcore to keep them afloat.

They would have never needed to do it this way if they had more studios. With more studios they would have been able to focus on both.

Crytek Frankfurt and UK are working on Crysis 2. Crytek Budapest is working on Kingdoms.

@OT: Multiplayer better be fixed, Epic!

Well the moment I saw this I was super pissed because I was readying myself for Gears of War 3. But the more I think about it the more fine I am with this decision since I am already purchasing Castlevania: LOS(PS3),  Black Ops(360), Mortal Kombat(PS3), and Crysis 2(360) from now until the spring season. The only thing that worries me is this pretty much seals the deal on a weak 2011 for the 360 and exclusives. I am hoping Codename:Kingdoms is ready for fall of 2011 because I am definitely interested in that game. PS3 has alot of exclusives next year I can choose from though so that will keep me happy along with the other games I mentioned until the granddaddy Gears 3 comes out.

 

Edit: I forgot to mention I'm probably picking up Bulletstorm (360). Alot of shooters. Makes sense to let Gears 3 own the fall and not be squeezed in with all other other shooters.
