Forums - Gaming - Help setting up online please?

Hey guys I'm kind of a noob when it comes to internet and getting things set up so I need your help please!

I'm at University and from what I understand they have it set up so only one device can be registered per internet port and so my laptop gets online just fine but I can't use my PS3 online. I'm pretty sure this is how it is at most/all universities.

My question is would getting a wired router and using that solve the problem so I can access the internet on both my laptop, PS3 and my future 360? I checked and wired routers are allowed by the school but I'm not sure how/if they'll work.  I'll be really bummed out if I can't play GT5 or Black Ops online!

Thanks in advance guys.

Any smart internet people please help! I'm going through PSN withdrawl

All right last attempt at bumping and I'll call it a night.

Your computer is hooked up to a wire giving it internet service?

Just unplug the cable and hook it up to your PS3, it'll work just fine.

If you're receiving internet via wireless already, I don't know how you'd go about finding the source of it, the modem, and connecting a router to it. Also, if you did that, you'd want to set up a security system for it in order to make sure no one leeches. On top of that, you'll have to check to see what kind of encryption code the PS3 is allowed to work on.

get a modem/router i guess , unless you are connected to an network within the Uni then get a router

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
