Nah.  The best looking game on the Gamecube was RE4.  On the original Xbox, Doom 3 was one of the top games.  One of the best looking games on both consoles is Enslaved (buy Enslaved, kids!).  GTA4/Red Dead offer more ambition than most of the other games on today's HD's platforms.  I'm sure people can come up with even more/even better examples.  Exclusives make the systems seperate but in my opinion, (with the exception of recent PS3 games) historically third parties push the console more.

I probably will buy Enslaved though, even if it's the best looking game.

In the end, isn't that what it's all about?

It means you managed to brainwash me.  Damn you Brannigan!

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Could you define "potential", here? Everyone seems to be assuming you mean graphical potential, but I'm finding the way you've outlined it to be vague.

GT4 was the best looking and had more content than any game released on the ps2

Halo 2 was the best looking and mad more content than any xbox game

didn't own nor did I care for the gamecube, so I wouldn't know

GT5 looks better than every game released this gen and has twice as much content than any game that will ever release on the ps3 until well....GT6

Halo Reach while graphics are open for debate (actually they can't there are/will be better looking 360 games) but no one can debate it pushes the 360 farther than any 360 game has or probably ever will

what game looks better and has more content than super mario galaxy 1/2???

without a doubt exclusives are what push consoles

You mean graphically?

Graphics don't matter. It's the content of the book and not the font, that makes me read it.

As for exclusives, it seems that certain developers can get almost as much out of the consoles with their multiplats as exclusive developers can, so it's a myth. I'm thinking talented companies like Crytek and Epic games. Talent is more important to making a good game graphically, than exclusivity. A few multiplats I can think of look far better on the PC than anything on the PS3.

L.O.L Crytek is talented and make good games without relying on graphics? , did you even play Crysis ?

You misunderstood my entire post, obviously. Talent in coding is important to making a game with great graphics. Crytek is obviously shitty at making games, and Crysis sucks, but they have technical talent above and beyond almost any other developer.

Read what I wrote again and understand. My entire post was about GRAPHICS and not about "making good games without relying on graphics" I don't know what you were reading.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
