Forums - General - Turning 16 soon- where should i work?

I recommend McDonalds as well.  They have very flexible hours for students and it will motivate you to seek higher education.  I worked there for 5 years and when I went to college I could always count on them to hire me for summer and winter breaks if I didn't have another job.

My Mom worked at Best Buy all they gave her was a 5% off discount that hardly worked on anything and they switched her hours too much. Go look at working at a grocery store or retail like Target.

For the most fun job, work at a theater.

For the best paying job, find a telemarketing company.

For free food, find a fast food company.

For a blow job, find a prostitute.

I get plenty of free food, and I don't have to deal with nasty customers or grease all day

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Sorry to say this kid, but now the way the economy is you'll be greatful to even work as a bus boy

I only don't recommend working at Best Buy because you would have to work as Front Lanes until you turn 18. And most best buy's (or in my experience) don't like to take cashiers and let them work the floors.

thats weird, I have hired 16 year olds to work in my media department before.  Never herd of a rule saying they couldn't.  Also, cashiers at every store I have worked at have been able to move onto the floor pretty easily and I have worked at 3 different stores now.

if you find a job, with the economy the way it is, consider yourself very lucky. i tried every place within an 8-mile radius and i was rejected every time. i find out that the job is always taken by an adult! im currently trying to get a (really well paying) job at a library. at this point, im just hoping for an interview.

of course, i live in a really small town. if you live in a big town or a city, you'll probably have better luck.

....what was this thread about again?....Oh yeah, your looking for a job.  McD's is an ok place to start(so i hear), or you could try a place at a computer store. a friend of mine works at one. just dont be picky with your first job, submit EVERYWHERE(well not everywhere, but almost all places). if an opportunity presents itself, take it.

oh, and GS wont hire you unless your 18. some stupid shit with the selling of M rated games....at least that is what they told me.

Trust me. Searching for jobs in electronics retail at your age and with no experience is likely to end in dismal failure unless you get really lucky.

I got my first two jobs through two routes: the first was a job at KFC obtained by abandoning all standards and prostituting myself out to the lowest fast-food chain on the totem pole (and they work fry cooks like dogs. The counter people are the sainted ones, and the fry cooks do all tasks too dirty for their holy hands), and the second i obtained at my public library because i caught them at a good time in terms of budget and because i had volunteered there off and on for the past four years before that.

Without experience, you are doomed, and even with it, you're facing an uphill battle if you're looking for parttime work.
