Based on how other games have sold on the ps3 and how the preorders are looking I guess.

Yeah, tell that to Mario Kart Wii. "FPS era" has nothing to do with anything when regarding a series like Gran Turismo. |
Mario Kart is selling to casual Wii owners .... we are talking about HD gaming, right ?
So, yes, welcome to the FPS era !
Time to Work !
Reasons for no pre orders = No advertising yet/ not many know of the pre order bonuses. Also NA has never been the strong selling point for GT games. Americans would rather play FPS's over and over again than switch between differant genres. Games like COD already have a fanbase on this gens consols so people who can only afford one game will get COD and there is a lot of kids and adults who can only afford 1 game.
But the biggest reason is because of Sony. I started seeing Halo Reach adverts in the summer telling people to pre order now for exclusive access to the beta and then the game properly started advertising 6 weeks before its release. Sony hasn't let many know that this game exists. My brother whos not a gamer but plays the GT series didn't know about this game until 2 weeks ago when I told him it was coming. He went out and bought a PS3 for it last week. Knowone will buy a product they don't know about and 90% of casual gamers don't check gaming news sites

1 delay in Japan is not "many times", I guess one could consider that not releasing in 2009 as promised at one time (but not officially) could be a "delay" so that's 2. Still, not in the "many" category.

It slightly increased from last week. It's starting to build up Steam in Japan. And who know's how much pre - orders it has in EMEAA. But I'll give you my two reasons.
1. ) Not near release date
2. ) No advertising
If Heavy Rain can sell 500k with just 100k pre orders by launch, if God of War 3 can sell 1.2 Million with just 480 - 500k by launch, and if Uncharted 2 can sell 800k with just 300k pre - orders by launch then I think GT5 can do the same.
Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.
PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E
Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Not the same but more, MUCH MORE. =)
it's still early for Sony to advertise this to the max... Just wait and see :)

I guess one can safely say that they targeted 2009... so yeah, one year is a lot, but when people say it was delayed a lot, it sounds like it was expected to be launched 3 or at least 2 years ago, which I don't think it was.

isn't gt5 going to get to 5m sales pretty quickly,it will surely always sell while the PS3 is alive and kicking
maybe i'm wrong, obviously nothing quite sells like mario or wii this/that
HD wise you have modern warfare,GTA and then Halo i can't think of any other franchise above those, correct me if i'm wrong,GT5 will most likely roll up 4th,can't see anything wrong with that
once its up and running it will never look back
i know this is about pre-orders,sorry for the rambling post
