Resistance FOM was heavily bundled. Without counting the bundles, R2 sold just as well as RFOM.

Was Resistance heavily bundled? I assumed people just bought Resistance at launch since it was the only really good game to be released until Motorstorm, and then after that it took about a year for the console to take off SW-wise.

Every new game sony puts out is heavily bundled, MS should do that with Alan Wake and Crackdown 2.

lolwut ? Motorstorm and Uncharted were the only ones which were heavily bundled...and its not like MS don't do it - Forza 2 and more recently, Forza 3 and ODST. And Halo 3 got a lot of bundles too.

Games like UC2 and GoW 3 got a very small amount of bundles in Europe on launch....I wouldn't call that heavily bundled.

ODST and Forza 3 were only bundled once in the same pack for a little over 3 months in the US, H3 was bundled in the limited edition console and a fall bundle for Europe. None of the games you mentioned were heavily bundled.

Halo 3 had multiple bundles in its time line.... And Forza 2 was bundled to no tomorrow...

Halo 3 wasn't bundled in the Limited Edition console, in fact, that was the drawback to that system. It WAS bundled, however, with another model, but not heavily. Forza 2 was a pack-in with every model for a while, so yes it was heavily bundled.

Regardless, it's inaccurate to say Sony heavily bundles all new releases. They don't.

It was "unofficially bundled" atleast here in the states, stores like Wal-mart, Target(where I used to work), and gamestop sold those limited edition consoles with a coupon for halo 3. And yes Forza 2 was bundled a lot.

like i said... not many...  and mostly elite and mostly after ODST, some considerable time after halo 3 was released.  thanks though.

A 60GB Version with Halo 3, a 360 elite with halo 3, elite with fable 2 & halo 3 (which spiked up sales for both titles for 2 or 3 months), a halo 3, odst and reach MP beta bundle, a halo wars and 3 bundle aren't many ?

It was bundled quite a bit and probably moved atleast 200k sales that way....and thats low balling it.

200k? even if thats true that represents 1.8% of Halo 3 total sales....

1.8%... thats huge isn't it.

The desperation of Sony fans to cheapen Halo success year after year is quite sad.

As I've said....thats probably low balling it...

The problem with the GT5 and Halo comparison is that the rules by which they can be compared constantly changes. The Sony fans normally make some claim and then back away from it. Like we all remember the GT5 will sell more then Reach first week comments a year ago. That then changed to lifetime and so on.

Now GT5 will be the top selling PS3 exclusive. I don't think anyone can deny that. It will go on to have very good sales. But will it have Halo Reach sales? To put some sort of perspective on it Reach just did 4m in 5 days on sale. It will probably do at least another 1m next week making it 5m in 12 days. The top selling PS3 exclusive is MGS4 with 4.9m. Meaning Reach just outsold the biggest exclusive on PS3 in just under 2 weeks.

For Reach to do that it has to sell big in emeaa and in americas. If you look at the Reach numbers in EMEAA your see it sold just as many as GT4 did in it's first week. Meaning the whole "EMEAA doesn't like Halo" thing is not true. Halo 3 remains the biggest selling exclusive in emeaa.

The main defence of GT5 doing Halo numbers is the whole EMEAA will make up the difference thing. But will it really? If you look at GT4 numbers your see that EMEAA did 1m, 800k in americas and 700k in Japan. So let's assume GT5 does better and sells 1m in US, 800k in Japan that is 1.8m. Do you really think EMEAA is going to do double what GT4 did with half the console GT4 had to sell to? and do say 2.2m? Because that is what it will have to do and that is unrealistic.

I think it will be more interesting to see how well Reach will keep up the next few weeks. Halo 3 was at almost 5 million after 3 weeks, so let's see if and by how much Reach can top that.

I agree that the next few weeks of sales should be more interesting.

On one hand, is the very real possibility that Reach sales are even more frontloaded than Halo 3. Take a very eager fanbase with a lot of anticipation built up for the title, a ton of pre-orders and day 1 buyers and you have a pretty solid formula for heavy frontloading.

If not, then continued sales will essentially be dependent upon fans of the series who were nonetheless stragglers when it came to picking up Reach. Not every fan of a given series has to buy every game at midnight of day one after all.

The other lesser factor will be those who buy a 360 over the next few weeks, not to exclusively play Halo and aren't fans of the series by any measure, but pick up Reach anyway due to the hype and because it is about as top quality as a game can get in the FPS console category. If you liked FPS games and you just bought a 360, why wouldn't you buy Reach?

GT is more of a legs franchise....it'll keep selling for a looooooooooooooooong time.

"Halo 3 remains the biggest selling exclusive in emeaa." should be "Halo 3 remains the biggest selling exclusive in emeaa on HD consoles" obviously....

Same can be said for Halo, H3 is still selling and it came out 3 years ago.
