Come on Capcom,l not even the highly acclaimed, internally developed DMC didnt managed to sell exactly 3 million, why do you think this silly looking reboot from a far lower caliber developer will manage to sell 5?

Which DMC was that? DMC4? Wasn't that made by copy and paste monkeys after pretty much everyone who had anything to do with DMC left capcom for platnum games?

Well, they really went to Clover first.  Then when Clover was shut down, they mainly went to Seeds/Platinum... of course that's mainly the core DMC1 team.  DMC4 team was mostly the DMC2/3 team (who also worked the RE Outbreak games btw), plus K2 (who Capcom bought after Lost Planet, which they also helped out on).

I know Hilary Swank is a top notch actress but having her star as Dante in the DmC reboot is a mistake.

I thinks fans should really think about this. if you look at games like DMC or Bayonetta, the style is very much Japanese and the combat takes a LOT of patience and replays. do you think general western gamers like the style of Bayonetta and love the amount of time it takes to get a 'Stylish' combo on DMC??

NO way, they love God of War because its easy to understand the combat, you can get into it straight away. its simple, it dosent require you to practice and remember combos. the style in God of War or Dantes Inferno is more serious and the western gamer can empathise with the story being told. in DMC, the western gamer just dosent care about watching cutscenes with anime one liners, they just want to play the game, they dont understand WHY Bayonetta is walking that way. its illogical to them and dosent appeal to them.

my point is, that Ninja Theory's philiosphy is extremely good, because they're making it serious so the western gamer, will think "oh yeah, i understand". and imo i'm really looking foward to what they develop.

if you look at Dante from DMC4, he looks awful anyway, he looks like a western bloke wearing Dante's clothes and hair. i'm gald Capcom have decided to go to NT and get them to do something different and hopefully awesome.

Edit: this is what i was trying to get at with my thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=116862&page=1&str=915882747#3

You are right people play GOW for its epic history, simple gameplay and impressive graphics.  People play DMC for its deep combat system and anime chessy story and characters.

So if NT decides to take away the elements that make DMC a DMC game then the people that bought the previous games are not going to buy this one. And this is not the first time that Capcom makes a new horrible design for a character, remember Nathan "Rad" Spencer? With that horrible hair and super serious attitude? The design and attitute for Bionic Commando Rearmed was so much better.

Well tbh with you man, i dont think people play DMC for the cheesy one liners and anime story, i think they just play it for the deep combat, i think they're indifferent to the story and characters. which is why i think i'll love it. i think its going to be very hard to win over the hardcore, because of Dante, but he dosent look that bad. i was shocked at new Dante before, now i just dont care, its not that bad. his attitude is still cool, his face and body look thin and vampirish, a lot better than (fat) DMC4 Dante, with stubble.

and imo if you look at the sales 2.73 mil for DMC1 (the highest in the series), Capcom is right, there is room for improvement and i think that NT can defintly improve the formula. i agree with their philiosopgy of making it serious and gritty, and thus making it more accessible to the westerners.

this game is NOT going to sell 5 million, it'll be lucky to sell 2 million. Due to CAPCOM and Antoniades' dare I say ARROGANT comments about the series and the reboot they're really not aware of how bad this thing looks for the fans. All this reboot is going to do is make an unneeded entry in the series that the fans will discard in a heart beat and move on from

I think people do play DMC for Dante's chessy yet funny attitude:

Recent precedents in other games show that the more serious gritty approach usually doesn't work: Bomberman Zero, Bionic Commando (The third person one), Prince of Persia Warrior Within sold less than Sands of time, that horrible Final Fight for PS2 in which Cody was a drug addict.
