Forums - Gaming - Wow patch 4.0.1 = wtf?

Hi all you wow players

I've tried to play wow earlier today, and was told I need to patch it. I can't use the official patcher because my uni blocked bit torrent, which also blocks that.

So I'm using a different site, called hotfile to direct download the patch (it's about 4 gb spread over 11 files)

Anyway, I have a few questions

Is everyone being met with this patch?

For those of you who have already patched to 4, I hear this patch is bringing in the gameplay aspects of cata - talent changes and the like. Is that true?

Also, the file I'm currently downloading says that it is "WoW-3.3.0.10958-4.0.0.12911-NA-Stage-1.part1" where the stage and part numbers obviously vary. However, I currently have 3.3.5 installed. The wowwiki seemed to imply that you could use this file to go from any 3.3.X to 4.0.1 without problems. Has anyone got any experience to support or refute this?

Cheers

PS - also, is anyone on the server Thaurissan?

This thread should have been placed in Grinding section of these boardz, not Gaming :P

The patch needed to play is a small 10MB patch.  I don't know what number it is, but it is NOT that huge 4.0 patch.

Yes, it is a 4 gig download after the quick 10mb update. its like 3.97gig

WTF!

It's a prepatch (partial data for the next patch). You don't need to download this. 4.0 isn't releasing for a few weeks still.

I just let mine download, so looks like i have the larger part of this update already. Works for me.
