Forums - PC - Capcom- despite 'strong sales' no PC release for SSFIV due to piracy

Exactly how "strong" were the PC sales? Were they talking initial sales? Were they happy with life time sales?

Regardless, it doesn't seem Capcom feels the PC profits are worth while. Also, putting it on the PC with pirates hurts potential console sales.

they dont have any problems releasing RE5, Dead Rising 2, Lost planet 2...all with Nvida 3D Vision suport. I am not sure why sSF4 would be any different.

As another fella summed up quite succinctly-

They have two options at the end of the day.

1. Get money in exchange for copies of Super Street Fighter 4 for PC.

2. Don't get money in exchange for copies of SSF4 for PC.

I guess Capcom doesn't want free money. They aren't screwing the pirates, they'll download Dead Rising 2 instead. They're screwing the people who would have paid for it. Pirates won't even miss it.

THe person that said that is an idiot.

There are still costs associated with bringing SSFIV to PC even if the arcade version runs on a PC of sorts.  That just means it works on a single platform, not all or even most.  Getting a game working well across a large number of different PC setups is a significant effort and if most people are just going to pirate it anyways, then blame the pirates.  It is their fault, nobody else.

Blame the cheap douchebags that can't be bothered to pay for a game and would rather destroy the thing they're getting enjoyment out of just so they can take money away from the people that poured years of blood, sweat, and tears into the very product they're enjoying.

While they are still supporting PC, it seems something inparticular ticked them off about SFIV.

Maybe RE5 performed better and suffered from less piracy?

We can only specualte without real numbers.

my guess would be that the developers have a say, so being externally developed maybe the dev didn't want to make it. If so that doesn't rule out capcom porting it themselves but I doubt they would put in the effort.

not at all. If Capcom makes a profit out of it, whether there is piracy or not, they should do it. The game is already old, so I really don't see the downside for Capcom.

Moreover they said they considered steam safe but won't release because some people wouldn't have access? that is literally retarded and there can't be any arguments about it cause it takes out their initial piracy problem.

yea it is so far after the console release I don't see what sales this is hurting. And if SF4 sold well (kinda suprising to me I wouldn't think the PC fighter fandom was very big at all) there is no reason not to add the characters to the existing SF4 PC and re-release it. I don't see the cost being high, so it would be pretty much pure profit.

But lets face it none of the reasoning this Yoshinori guy used makes any sense at all, and it's full of hypocrisy. I mean don't want to release it on a platform where people will play it for free, so no PC version yet the 360 has piracy. Doesn't want to make it Steam exclusive because people would miss out, so make more people miss out. I just hope he was horribly miss translated...

the Steam argument makes absolutely no sense

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

Pirates taken things from other people.
Nothing unusual.

Pirates are the devil, this is terrible that companies would even consider not releasing a game because of you. Pirates don't deserve to play games.

The only sane reason they wouldn't release SSF4 on PC is because it could affect the console versions' sales. The funny and sad part is that Ono only gave pathetic and illogical reasons. Either he didn't want to tell the true reason, or there's something simply wrong with his tought process.
