Some of you may remember this from earlier today, where Kudo Tsunoda said this:

"Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first person shooters on the PC anymore. It's all about the console."

Well, PCGamer had something to day to Kudo today.

"At least 266,505 people played an FPS on a PC today"

"According to Steam stats*. And that’s before America gets its game on. Your move, Kudo."

Anyways, those numbers are concurrent, so the title should have actually been "266,505 gamers are playing an FPS on a PC right now". The total number for the entire day would be much higher.

These numbers also only from Steam, so do not include retail copies or FPS being played on anything other than Steam.

I was playing halo reach earlier today and the number was 504,000 online for that game. He's right people do play FPS more on the console. It would be interesting to compare FPS PC numbers now and let's say 5 yrs ago.

How do you know people play more FPS on consoles, given that those were just Steam stats?

And even if they do, that doesn't mean "he's right" as you claimed, just read his quote again.

This is 266,505 people on Steam playing an FPS and doesn't include any players, anywhere, who are not using Steamworks.
