Forums - Sony - Need help with PS3 version of RE5

Ok, I just traded in RE5 360 for RE5 PS3 Move and although you can sign into multiple accoutns on X-Live it seems as though you can't do that on PS3. I want to play RE5 COSS (Co-op+Split Screen...I made that up btw, I think :P) but I can only use one profile so my friend can't use sheva on his account he has to use my account as well. So my question is, does anyone know if I am doing something improperly? Does anyone know if you can have multiple accts logged in at the same time like in X-Live? Thank you.

I finally found out that you cannot have more than one acct logged in on the PS3. What an overlooked feature!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeell, I know when my kid and I play Little Big Planet, I'm given the option of playing as d21lewis or as a Guest.  Of course, both of our profiles were created on the same PS3.  Is there an option to retrieve a profile on the PS3?  If not, maybe he can create a profile and then type in his existing profile.  I doubt his saved data can carry over, though.

I have an older PS3 with ports for Memory Sticks, SD cards, and some other port I don't know what the hell to stick in there.  I assume transporting save data would be a breeze.....if the newer PS3 Slims have such ports.  I don't have any definite answers but I'm sure it's a problem that can be solved with a little thinking outside the box.

No, unfortunately the PS3 can only have multiple profiles signed in at a time on certain games (not very many) and LBP is one of them. You would think that RE5 would take advantage of this though. Oh well I guess, it's just another feature that Sony needs to implement to be on par with X-Live.

This feature is only available if implemented in the game, sadly 3rd parties games tend not to have it.

Man, that kinda sucks.  So if both players play the game and upgrade to better guns or infinite ammo through repeated playthroughs, only one person will be able to use these upgrades when they play split screen co-op?  And any treasures found won't go to both players.  Only that one signed in player?  Hmm.  This needs to be patched.  I play split screen co-op to this very day (check my profile if you doubt me--I just played it about two weeks ago.).  I'd be pissed.  At least the online works flawlessly, right?

Basically it's as if Chris and Sheva are the same profile, anything either finds or do goes to that profile.

no you two have to play co-op in different PS3 online cause you can't login two account at a PS3

btw its better to play in full screen rather then split screen too small don't think is fun to use psmove on that

Both players get the benefit of one account, both can use infinite ammo and so forth.

Well that's cool, then.  On 360, if one player earns the ammo and the other hasn't, only the one who earned the stuff gets it.  I beat the game with my daughter (I'm a horrible father!) and I had to let her use my character with infinite triple barrel shotgun ammo while I had to scrounge for ammo and weapons.  It sucked!

Like ajescent said, it depends on the game. Some games offers you to select a different profile on the same console, as example LBP or borderland.
