Forums - Sony - Gamestop seems to be moving move in my area

GameStops in my area saw no extra business from the Move.  I live in north east Indiana, though, which seems to highly favor the 360.  Still, they said they sold only 3 Sports Champions bundles today (the store my gf works at).

So that's not anecdotal. The biggest online retailer basically didn't order enough controllers to cover the initial demand.

I suppose the naysayers will claim that means Amazon only had about a dozen in stock for all of NA.

 


I dont know if its Amazon not ordering enough or Sony not shipping enough. One of my friends who own stores didnt get enough to fill is pre-orders. On the rest I agree with you, its not anecdotal, I even post 2 days ago saying it would happen. Heres the thread:

That is what pisses me off, I made it clear that this was just my area, provided phone numbers (which I know one of you guys called and got the same response I got) and people are like "they are lying". Why is it so hard for people to accept that this motion controller may actually be a hit among core users? I would have got itbut i bought Spider-man..I'm getting move at the end of the month.

Either their distributors shipped more to that store or it doesnt sell as much there. Whats the point? Sony's first shipment was limited and is selling well. Stores arent getting the number they ordered and then many are selling all they have. If it can comfort you, this can obviously mean that the first Sony shipment was quite limited.

I don't think you understand Gamestops priorities.  It goes like this:

  • 1. Make you preorder games
  • 2. Make you trade in games
  • 3. Make you buy used games

    • Gamestop isn't like most retailers, they purposely create fake shortages because they know they're the place to get games in most parents and kids eyes.  It's in the name of their company.

    They won't pretend not to have something but they will flat out lie and tell you you're getting the last one or last one or two and then suggest you preorder your next upcoming game to make sure you get the game.  If you preorder you are then obligated to buy there.  That means they get another chance to get your used games which means they then get to sell those used games.

    And that's only one of the reasons Gamestop flat out sucks.  As Euphoria pointed out, you also have to deal with terrible employees.

    I'm not trying to tell anyone not to get the Move and I'm not trying to suggest it isn't doing well, I am saying Gamestop lies to you and you should stop shopping there.

    I'm not denying it's any kind of hit but Gamestop has ulterior motives.  Call a better retailer like Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Fry's, etc.

    That wasn't directed specifically at you but I try to avoid gamestop as much as possible. The breaking point was 12 bucks credit for GOW3, I go to best buy or hastings.
