Forums - PC - You can only get deals like these on PC

the software prices barely make up for the hardware costs.

I know what I'm talking about, I already had several gaming PCs and everytime I bought a new one or did a complete overhaul it cost me about three times the price of a console.

I gave advices to 2 good friends lately in getting a new PC and in the end both spent around 4 times the price of a 360s Arcade or Wii.

5 years later they will buy a new one (me included. I got mine in mid 2009). Which is around as much as a console generation.

yeah but you don't need an expansive PC to play games, that's a choice. HD consoles game quality is nowhere near the PC you built last year.

10 dollars for games I beat or don't want to play is 10 dollars too much. But I agree, for the 500 people out there that really wanted to play those games and haven't already, thats a great deal.

I'm not going to bore with the fact that you can get 10 AAA PC Games for the price of one $60 AAA Console/PC game.

I'm not going to bore you with the fact that the best deals are only on PC, and Digital Distribution is king.

I'm just going to gloat, because there's also great PC bargains that you often get on kiosks and newsstands.

Earlier today on a newsstand, for only $10, I bought a PC Game Pack which contained:

  • Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition
  • Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
  • World in Conflict: Complete Edition

FC2 includes the Fortune DLC (which alone costs $5 on XBL), and there's also the SC game. But the true gem is the complete edition of World in Conflict, which also contains the expansion World in Conflict: Soviet Assault.

PC Gaming keeps saving me money.

I bought 30 old console retail games for 30$ a few months ago... they were about as old as the games you listed... hmm I'd say I got the better deal =]

Among those game... a most of the splinter cell series...rainbow6... Ghost Recon games..  a motorcyle game... and I cant remember the rest =]

Also gamestop has many great games under 5$ just need to look a bit but they're there. Oh and 4 years ago... I never upgraded my Xbox 360 to play the latest games and paid perhaps less then half of what some PC gamer did for his/her PC.

These kind of deals are on every platform, just need to look.

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.

Were they even new copies?! Because mine were brand new copies, of which the money went to the publisher/developers of those games.

Also, I didn't know that most Splinter Cell games were on Xbox 360/PS3. Care to enlighten me? How many of those games were from this gen?!

Dude, you could buy right now L4D1 L4D2 for only $10 on Steam, with all of it's DLC for FREE!!! On Xbox 360, the Sacrifice DLC alone costs more than the PC version of L4D2 with all DLC for free.

Furthermore, 30 games for $30 are standard fare for awesome Game Packs on Steam and other DD stores.

Where were you when there was the $50 THQ pack with dozens of PC games on Steam, with recent and brilliant games like Dawn of War 2, Company of Heroes, Stalker, Metro 2033, Red Faction Guerrilla, Saints Row 2, Titan Quest, etc...

Where were you when there was the $30 id Soft pack with dozens of PC games on Steam, with halmark games like Quake 3, Doom 3, etc.. ALL id Soft games ever made!

Where were you when Sega...

Where were you when Eidos...

Where were you when  2K Games...

etc...

And those were all brand new copies!

You missed the point.

You can find great deals on all platforms.

I think you missed Shio's point-- PC is the only viable gaming platform and any other deals are as insignificant as you are if you don't absolutely agree with him.

Ow please.. the Appstore has also amazing deals:

Secret of Monkey Island SE: 99 cent

Monkey Island 2 SE: 99 cent

get them on your iphone/ipod touch now!

And playing games on an iPhone is awesome, as everyone knows...

I bought two copies of Red Dead Redemption for $20 each (new) and sold one for $40, took the $20 I made and bought Infamous. So I got 2 new games for $20. :)

I also got Unreal Tournament 2004, L4D2, AudioSurf and Cryostasis in the Steam Summer sale for about $25 in total.

Deals on games everywhere FTW!

Well, given how well the games sell on consoles I'm not surprised they havn't lowered the prices to those levels!!!!
