Forums - Nintendo - People are forgetting about Wii!

To the IR pointer issue, it makes me wonder if the next Nintendo home system will have different pointer sensors to avoid this.

When you're in a race, and the leader is way out in front, but there's a close battle for second place way behind, the coverage will mostly be on that close battle, with occasional glimpses at the leader.

This statement makes sense to me.

It would make sense if every far ahead leader in news got the same treatment. ONCE AGAIN, the PS2 did not, despite the similar situation.

Oh, ok, sorry :(.  I really didn't follow gaming until 2008 so I didn't know about that last generation.  From what milkyjoe said it sounded like it would make sense to me.

@Zlejedi  I think  it is that simple. PCs are way more expensive than having a console. With all the crap you have to add to it to get some of the latest games to even run. I used to play FPSs on PC many moons ago but it wasnt financially feasible for me to keep doing so. Especially when the consoles started to get the same games. I mean Wii is cheaper than the othe 2 so the games should at least be selling just as well

@lordtheknight  its funny you say the whole gamers are not take what you can get, because judging by the sales of Red Steel vs. the actually quality, that exactly what they are. and its sequel which is grade a by comparision didnt even do close to that. I think what happened was there was an audience but as the HD consoles came down in price and more people got them they moved onto play FPSs on those systems. Lets keep it real, a Wii version of a FPS will always be gimped. Even if they managed to cram all that content from a HD game to a Wii game your still not gonna get DLC that the PSN/LIVE get

What makes you think it was the price that affected software sales? That affects hardware sales.

And RS2 is not that good a game. It's not bad, but the Motion potential is just as unrealized as the FPS control in the first game.

@lordtheknight  RS2 was way more responsive than the orginal by far. and judging by reviews alot of people think so, but thats your opinion. More people buy hardware and they buy software for said hardware. As a multi console owner I would never buy a multiplat Wii game. 95% of the time the HD version is always better. especially when it comes to FPSs. DLC, better online, more features, visuals. And its not cause I have something against Ninty, I did the same last gen in terms of PS2 GC. GC version of games were better. YOu can bring up conspiracy theories all you want about 3rd parties sabatoging Wii. If it was true, so what??? IM not going to deny myself good games because they choose to screw over some Wii only owners. It sucks that that happens but, you can either get a console to play a better version of the game, accept the current situaion and be happy your getting a version a the game at all OR just say screw it and never buy another 3rd party game ever

No the Wii won, it's pretty over methinks. However, this seems like a lackluster defeat to me.  I guess it's the combination of such little third party support and the gaming media somewhat ignoring it.  The PS2 had such fanfare, even in its dying days....

P.S. This isn't trolling, just an odd and somewhat upsetting situation.

The reviews only mean game reviewers think so.

Plus the responsiveness is not just what I meant. I meant the gameplay overall, and the user reviews (and there are a lot more than just official reviewers) show that is not as good as it could have been.

@lordtheknight  understandably, but what are Wii owners doing???? are they just not playing FPSs cause they have had bad experience in the past? Or are they just playing FPSs on other systems?? Where is this FPS audience on Wii??? My point is the FPS audience is not that big on Wii not even close to the other platforms. We can make excuses about advertisements and not being that good all you want. THere are FPSs on the HDs that werent that good and have had zero ads that still sell better than your average Wii FPS. Until 007 or Conduit 2 do 2mil and COD: BO do as sales wise as the HD guys Im sticking to my belief that the FPS audience is just not serious for Wii. Pointer controls be damned
