I remember when my favorite 8-Bit character used to be so bad ass.  They would go in single handedly without weapons and find everything along the way becoming more and more powerful.  They wouldn't whine and complain about their boss.  They would NEVER let somebody of the opposite sex have such an effect on them and when it's time to pull the trigger when their friend is in need, they'd do it!  I mean they already fought/beat that boss many times before in other 8-Bit/Portable games, right?  It's fucking ridiculous.

Samus?  No!  I'm talking about Solid Snake/Naked Snake.

I mean look at him.  His friend is being killed by Metal Gear and he's afraid to pull the trigger?  He's yelling "NO!  I CAN'T DO IT!", like a little wuss.  He used to be such an ass kicker.  And don't get me started about his superior officer.  I mean, here we have the "greatest soldier that ever lived", and look who he answers to:  THE BOSS?  A WOMAN!?  That is so sexist.  It's an insult to his fans--male fans, specifically.  He's always whining about this woman because "They're such good friends."  And don't get me started on the story.  It's so crazy and inconsistent.  Uuugh!  You know what, Metal Gear franchise?  FUCK YOU!

I liked it better when Snake didn't talk.  He was such a badass, then.  Plus, I could pretend I was him.  With his new personality, it takes away from the sense of immersion. 

So, you're saying you don't like Metal Gear Solid then?  It's an opinion for sure, but one I would have to whole heartedly disagree with.  I'm sure most others would as well.

I understand your perspective here, but you also have to realize that the comparison is a bit wonky, right?

I'm not sure there was ever a time when Snake didn't talk.

And more than that, there is a certain bias that comes along with male privilege, you know? Our perspective is necessarily shaped by our positions.

Snake Always talked .... ? , and he was the same as he is now.

I'm talking about the Snake from the old MSX/Nes games.  He had text (like Samus in Metroid Fusion) but he didn't have a voice.  I guess you're only familiar with the newer games like Metal Gear Solid.

Now, look at Snake in MGS4.  He's always ahowing his ass.  He wears that skin tight suit and at one point, he strips naked for Naomi!  Sexist!  Now I'm a fan of Metal Gear.  I wanted to like MGS4.  I assume it had cool boss fights, good graphiics, cool weapons, and all.  I don't care about any of that.  The game is SEXIST!  I mean Snake always worked alone.  All of a sudden, he runs across his old friend Meryl and he starts working with her?  A person of the opposite sex with whom he has a history?  SEXIST!!

I'm sorry.  If I had to rate that game, I'd give it 2 thumbs down out of 5.

no i am talking about the Old MSX ones , he used to be the same with Holly from MG2SS as he was with all the female characters, hell the first thing he says when he meets her is "uhh... i didn't think you were this pretty" and why is everyone thinks i don't know about the older games? =s (i've had this same thing said to me about Ninja Gaiden , seriously it hurts my gamer ego)

each time i talk about MG1 and MG2SS it makes me want a remake!... I DEMAND A REMAKE!!

also those two games hold the missing link between the whole franchise, like how Snake met Gray Fox and how and what happened to Big Boss, and also lots of things =[
