I understand your perspective here, but you also have to realize that the comparison is a bit wonky, right?
I'm not sure there was ever a time when Snake didn't talk.
And more than that, there is a certain bias that comes along with male privilege, you know? Our perspective is necessarily shaped by our positions.

The Rex/Ridley comparison is great though - though didn't he not fire because he couldn't kill Fox?
