Forums - Sony - Should developers stop making games for the PSP?

@scoobes  your the only one that gets it. These people cant seem to grasp that it cost alot of money to make games for PS3. alot. plus PSP has almost twice the install base. They probably make more money on PSP. As much as I love BBS and I actually wish It was a PS3 game. Im mature enough to understand that if it was a PS3 game I would probably have had to wait 3 more years for the game. Id rather sooner than later

Well, I'd rather have it for PS3 than PSP. But as others have said it's much more expensive and risky for them to develop for the ps3. And takes longer to make each game.

one question. Does anyone know how profitable or how much of a loss VC1 was?

I don't mind new PSP games.  Patapon, for example, is an awesome PSP franchise that I'm glad is being continued. Same for other quirky and unique titles that keep popping up, like Patchwork Heroes.

What I do mind is a franchise being heavily downgraded by switching to a platform that is inferior by every metric.  I wouldn't have minded a VC spin-off for PSP, but both main entry sequels for the platform?  Wtf?

It'd be like if LBP PSP was the actual LBP2, or if Nintendo made SMG2 for DS instead of Wii.

Like others had said, making games for the PS3 its very expensive and you have to sell a lot to get your money back, some tittles are not huge sellers and the developers can't take the risk, specially when they still can sell a good number in the PSP (in Japan mostly).

No I hope they never stop making awesome PSP games. I want it to be like the Dreamcast and still have games coming out for it 10 years from now. I want it to still have games and be on store shelves when Nintendo retires the DS. I want it to get multiplats of 3DS games. I want PSP games even after the successor has been out.

Why?

To spit in the face of every hater the system has like Gamestop. The system has been bashed and called dead for years now but still has awesome games coming out like KH, MGS, VC3, GOW, and even a RE game. Software wise this has been one of the PSP's Best years. I love my PSP and will never let it go! NEVER!!!!!!!!!

I have friend who won't shutup about how great their Dreamcast is, makes me really think I missed something

You did, but thank heaven they can be picked up for almost nothing on eBay and I hear something about 360/PS3 downloads of some top games as well. The DC really shouldn't be missed. And if you don't mind PSP graphics the DC is certainly in the same league.

As far as the PSP software goes, I hope devs keep supporting it as long as it pays the bills. Having bought a PSP-2000 9 months ago I have to say I've had a lot more fun with the system than I expected. Sure the library is somewhat slim for it's age, and the lack of a second stick is crazy. But it is home to a lot of winning software and certainly isn't the epic failure of a handheld so many claim it to be. And I say this after picking one up at launch and returning it 2 weeks later.
