Why be angry for copying Uncharted 2?

Copying a Uncharted 2 will at least lead to a better game than Heavenly Sword

If your talking to me, then you might want to reread my original post. I wasn't COMPLAINING that it "copies" UC2, I was PRAISING it. :p

Heavily, heavily inspired by Uncharted 2. I remember in an interview the co-founder of ninja theory and director of this game saying that in his opinion Uncharted 2 was the best game of this generation but unfortunately it came out too soon to have an impact on Enslaved. Bullshit. It came out a year ago which was plenty of time to add an influence to the game and it shows. Very cinematic and a lot of the animations when platforming remind me of drake's. You might think I'm complaining but quite to the contrary. Seeing the simularities between this and Uncharted 2 just made me add this to my day 1 must buy list. Any game that reminds me of the best game ever is good enough for my cash.

You know that Uncharted 2 isn't the only game they could have drawn inspiration from, right? Like Uncharted 1 for example.

Uncharted 1 didn't have the cinematic flair that Uncharted 2 did. And what made the big difference? The camera angles and how they were incorperated into big epic scenes. I'm not saying that scenarios or gameplay were stolen from Uncharted 2 by enslaved. Only that they obviously went back and incorporated the cinematic camera into their action scenes after Uncharted 2 (which most def. could have been done in a years time) and maybe a few inspirations to the platforming as well.

Or maybe they came up with those themselves? Just because they've been done in Uncharted 2 doesn't mean they couldn't have come up with those themselves, and Heavenly Sword was very cinematic when they did that, so I don't find that unlikely at all.

Is it possible? Yea sure. But unlikely imo. No game before Uncharted 2 incorporated the cinematic camera in the same way as UC2. UC2 was praised by critics for the use of the cinematic camera. I don't see how it's so unbelievable to you that this inspired Enslaved, even after the Director praised that particular aspect of UC2 in an interview on gametrailers. Maybe you haven't played the demo yet but it's not just that the game incorporates cinematic moments but that they are presented almost copy and paste from similar moments from UC2. If you haven't played them both then please do and tell me if you still find it so unlikely.

I've platinum'ed Uncharted 2 and I've just played through the Enslaved demo, so I know the comparison well enough. I'm simply saying that I find it very likely that they would have thought of this and implemented it in some form before Uncharted 2 released. Copying Uncharted 2 is not a bad thing as such, it just isn't fair to say that they copy pasted this feature from U2, when they might as easily have figured it out themselves. They released Heavenly Sword before Naughty Dog released Uncharted after all.

But I guess there's not much point arguing this, so let's agree to disagree?

Holy fuck balls, I just played this demo.  Now, I've been hyped for this game for a while and I'm not sure why.  I played this thing with high expectations and I'll be damned if they weren't blown away!  I haven't enjoyed a demo like this since Batman AA and this one is MUCH better, in my opinion.  You guys trusted CGi when it came to Heavy Rain--trust ME when it comes to this:  THIS MOTHERFUCKER IS EPIC!! Try it asap!

Not too impressed with the demo, wasn't a fan of the camera I hate games where you're running in one direction then the camera changes and your character ends up running the wrong way. Also really didn't like the platforming, it felt pointless, it seemed like you couldn't miss so I just don't see the point of it even being there

Combat was good though, if it gets good reviews I'll consider it as the end of the demo made the rest of the game seem fun, just really hope the platforming actually starts having a point other than to look good

What makes this game like Batman: Arkham Asylum? It's great that you like it, I just don't see how they're all that comparable. :/

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

It's nothing like Batman.  My point was that Batman AA was the last demo I really enjoyed.  Usually, I delete them before I ever play them, or play them partially before I ever finish them.  I haven't enjoyed a demo this much since in a long time.  That's all.

I guess I got a little too excited.  It happens from time to time.  Maybe some people (probably nobody) will enjoy it like I did.  Oh well--day one purchase for me!

--Got sidetracked.  I was going to say "This is the best demonstration for the power of the Unreal Engine that I've ever seen.  Epic has their work cut out for them if they want Gears 3 to blow it away." but now, I'm not going to say it.  People may start to look at me funny.

Demo was good.

Need some work and can be epic.
