Regenerating health is one of the worst things that has ever happened to first-person shooters.

This.

These days it's ok to run through a bulletrain taking a few hits because all you got to do is dive behind some cover, wait a few seconds and Abra Kadabra you're as good as new!

This x2

Resistance 2 f***ed up by switching to regenerating health from health packs. RFOM was awesome but R2 just became pop up, get a few shots off, duck back down and let your health recover, pop up, shoot, recover, etc. It was way worse.

I don't see why all the hate for regen health.  I don't like having to run around and search for health, regen health lets me stay in the action more.

I must say I'm not a fan of the one or two main gun and one secondary gun setup. I miss the days you could lug around 16 different guns and use a different one for all kinds of situations.

Sure it's more realistic carrying one or two weapons but it's just not as much fun.

agree with you

Killstreak Rewards

Back in the day before Modern Warfare, you could tell the good players by staying away from a particular area of the map. You wander into their killzone and BAM! HEADSHOT! No harrier strikes, no chopper gunners, no UAVs, and on. If you could see the player, then that means your dead because the moment they see you they have had the crosshairs on your head for a minute, while you are busy aiming downsight at them with your wrist shaking and thinking WTF not this guy again. Most of the time, you never see them coming.

Nowadays, what do we have? Killstreaks rewards. Basically, you get 5 kills, go into a secluded spot, and call in a reward. This reward may add 1 to 5 more kills for you to open up another present from Infinity Ward developers.

What is the problem? Telling an honestly gifted, good player from just another sleazeball camper who is no better than when he first started than where he is 6 months ingame time is getting more and more blurry. Furthermore, good players who could own you without the killstreak rewards are instantly called "hackers."What was once the domain of good players has become littered with your flavor of the month squatter trash who use the most OP setups (Jedi knifing anyone?), camping tactics, and weapons to pad their K/D ratio.

In many respects, killstreak rewards have heralded the end, as in Nero playing the violin while Rome burns end, for competitive FPS play.

I totally agree, and to add:

Perks <-------- are fucking gay

weapon attachments

auto aim

low bullet insta-kills

camping

horrible mulitpayer map design

now I'm to tried to go into all of them with detailed explanations of why the above are either annoying or just gay, but they are all shitty additions to fps that are leading to a complete death of the genre (the skill based competitive side)

Wow, you hate bad design?  And here I was all these years thinking games with horrible design were the greatest thing ever!

Thank you captain obvious, of course what can I expect from someone who think gay is an insult?

Behind a wall recovering? Not really action when you are hiding.

EDIT: Oh yeah, as evolution_1ne said, add auto-aim to the list. MW2 has an issue with that and single shot kills with a sniper riffle up close.

Hmm, pie.

Tom Clancy's: Raven Shield had limping after injury and no health regeneration. It also had real weapons, with accurate weapon strenghts and actual military side equipment. It would also take time swtiching equipment and weapons, not the insta-weapon switch you see in most games.

Tom Clancy games used to be really good at realism, then Vegas came out. They added health regen and other aboslute crap things.

Agreed. The only game I've seen do health regeneration well (from both a gameplay perspective and at least attempting to have it be realistic) is the Battlefield series.

I can blind fire, dart from cover to cover, and formulate strategy while in cover.  I'm blindly running around looking for health when looking for health.
