Forums - General - Need some TV advice!

I've been looking at buying a new TV, but have hit a dilemma. I have found a couple of which are in my budget, but cant decide which is the better option. (both are roughly the same price)

I decided to go with Samsung as have always liked there items and had little to no problems with them. The two I have seen are as follows, the biggest dilemma being should I go with LCD or Plasma.

1) Samsung 40" Widescreen full 1080p HD LCD

or

2) Samsung 42" Widescreen HD ready Digital Plasma TV

Having been doing some research, I found most opinions favour Plasma over LCD. My only concern is the LCD being 1080p where as the Plasma isnt.

I will be using it mainly for gaming (PS3) and watching Blu-Ray movies.

So the question is should go in favour of plasma, or in favour of having 1080p?

Thanks in advance!

Well, I think plasmas look better... Our 50" plasma 1080i looks better then some of 1080p sets I've seen.

But 1080p is nice for bluray movies and PS3 games. I'm no help, am I?

Go for plasma. Better picture and no lag. I´ve got a panasonic pz80e and have seen lots of top range lcd´s fom Sony, Philips, Samsung and no lcd comes close to a good plasma. There are no major diferences between 1080p and 720p. Also only a few PS3 games support 1080p.The Samsung is a good plasma, excellent at that price.
