Forums - Sony - Valkyria Chronicles 3 announced in famistu

Motoyama did not rule out a PS3 entry, though, replying in the affirmative when Famitsu asked if the series could come to PS3 if he were to come up with the appropriate idea.

However, Motoyama feels that for the current story-focused series, the ability to play wherever you want is important. "In an era where everyone is busy, we felt PSP was best in order to make Valkyria Chronicles bigger."

Jeez someone tell this Motoyama guy this is also an "era where PSP games sell horribly in the West".

________

This makes no sense:

- VC1 is more successful and its on PS3

- They have the Canvas engine ready and they can make VC3 multiplat......PS360 install base combined >> PSP one

- WESTERN SALES!

these are great news i love VCII and because i don't have a PS3 it is awesome

Do you guys really care about the sales now ? >_>;

you loved the game when it was selling like crap, so whats the difference?

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

I just don't get it. Is it really a good business decition to release VC 2 and 3 on the PSP and not leave the big numbers for consoles and make a parallel series for the portable consoles as others have done?

The fuck?  Is it April already?  Look, I own a PSP and VC and the PSP are a perfect fit.  I love strategy games on portable consoles.  They are a tremendous value.  I'm even enjoying VC2 but VC on the PS3 is a dream come true.  Sega needs to take this franchise back "home".

I would say wait a bit, for some reason I think it might see a price drop sooner or later. (since it is doing bad in the west)

True story, my old PSP 1000 died a month ago, I tried to get a cheap PSP 3000 but I couldn't find a good deal, thankfully I found a store that had this for just $109.99 ..... and I bought it.So yes sometimes you can get good deals on PSPs maybe not the best deal but still.

That's the PSP I got my kid for Christmas!!  It was the same price at Wal-Mart with a free game and a 2GB memory stick (which is now full of porn).  I gave my daughter a 4gb card and took the 2gb card.

Worst thing I fear is that they don't even release this outside of Japan.. PSP SW market is literally dead next fall in West.

^^^This.  I actually believed that VC2 was likely my last PSP purchase, ever.  There's nothing else on the horizon (before VC3) and since I got my Droid, I haven't been using my PSP's features (pics, movies, music, comics) like I used to.  I figured VC2 would be its swan song.  Plus, is VC3 releasing in January (I'm too lazy to scroll back up to the OP and check)!?  That's too damned soon.  I'm not even 10% done with VC2, I'd wager.  The original has been in rotation in my PS3 for about a year and I still have one more battle to fininsh.  Too much of a good thing and nobody will care about the franchise.

You have to question some of Sega's decision making in this issue.

Did you play the second?

Yep, the batle system is great but the school interface, cutscenes and characters are bland IMO. I found characters from the first game way more sympathetic than the new ones. (specially Cosette and Avan, they are just the weak pale shadow of Welkin and Alice)

I also think the story is the bad part of VC 2 as compare to VC story. By itself its alright, but I think VC 1 story was vastly superior.
