I think it's fairly obvious that skipping the day is part of the plan to speed up his death, though I'd say it's a pretty weak ability if that's all it is for. There may be more to the day skip than we know, or maybe the twins are a large part of why it was ineffective.

I really don't buy his role claim...and the fact that he wasn't clear about it first and then kept changing it with each question I asked. And he also refuses to name claim. I think I've been a thorn in his ass for long enough.

jk, I'm pretty sure they can come back, they can come back in the NES game and dtewi hasn't actually revealed their role or alignment, so given their state of "limbo" it's likely an elder can heal them just like in ff4
