another post gone..
Ok, let's try this again:
FF has just dropped almost completely off my radar. Apparently, what I thought was evasiveness was simply a misunderstanding wherein FF was unable to understand that his posts were confusing. That's what I believe. Because of this inability to understand, he was incapable of answering my questions, thereby seeming evasive.
The only thing I want to know, ff, is why you think mafia reviver is such an unbelievable role when compared with an unkillable doctor. IIRC you didn't lynch heph because you felt his role was believable.
Let me share you some thoughts about the two roles.
A mafia reviver will be able to revive one mafia for less than one game-day cycle, because the revived will immediately be lynched again. On the other hand, an unkillable doctor will ...never die.

I read my PM at the start of the game. I thought (correctly) that my status ailment of confusion randomized who I revived.
As I was writing that post, I looked at my PM and decided (incorrectly) that I had been wrong before and my status ailment did not affect the accuracy of the revival. So I probably deleted the explicit explanation of that status ailment, because it was no longer of central importance, and struck through my previous estimate of my accuracy, and gave instead my new estimate of my accuracy.
You implied a status effect. Which if you can please understand, does not mesh well at all with your strikethrough 50% -> 100%. Your claim implied a status effect that did not make a difference to your accuracy.
Yeah, obviously my accuracy can't go over 100%, but I didn't strike that part out because I still DID have that status ailment, and I thought that removing it might have some benefit for me that may or may not be related. (I realize that this is not totally harmonious with my probable deletion of the explicit confuse explanation, but there's really no way to make that disharmony part of a plausible evil plot.)
About the strikethrough: I left the old thought in strikethrough to show what I had previously thought. This turned out to be very valuable information. So I totally disagree that I should have deleted it altogether. If you are saying I could have put my entire original post in strikethrough and written a whole new one ... yes, I could have, and if I'd had any clue what sort of mess this would turn into I would have. But I don't think I can possibly be held to account for not anticipating a mess this big.
My problem wasn't with you writing "i'm confused" as some sudden backpedal, but that first it didn't matter, and then it did. Please read my response.
If this is your problem, it has an extremely simple answer that I thought was settled ... long, long ago. I thought it didn't matter right up until dtewi told me it did.

Clarity, and in what way you communicate, is probably the most important aspect of the game.
People were clearing homer for writing "protagonist", hatmoza clears people just by heartfelt final messages.
No, you couldn't have anticipated this BIG of a mess, but you should know to anticipate a mess if you don't communicate effectively.

IIRC, he only had 2 Reflects. So for 2 nights, he's an unkillable doctor. After that, just a doctor.
And you know, you make a persuasive point. Not that I agree that the power isn't crazier than Heph's, but it's not as crazy as I thought. A mafia reviver, basically, would simply add an extra night.
However, the mafia already had that power!! (At least I think that was part of the N1 mess. Wasn't it?) So I think that in general you might have a point, although it's an extremely powerful role (more so IMO than a doctor who can protect 2 targets twice); nevertheless, in this case -- in this game -- no.

Case in point: the instant I hit the post button, I had a feeling I'd done something horribly wrong. But then the page took ten minutes to fucking load so you've probably beaten me to it.
Ironically, the mistake is ALSO accurate. Since you should excuse no one, I might as well be the last.
(Obviously I meant "accuse".)
tl;dr

Hypothesis (I): Kantor is Kefka - He either poisoned someone else, poisoned himself, or poisoned nobody and dtewi is misleading us to believe that Kefka poisoned somebody. I highly doubt dtewi purposely tricked us in the flavored text, but maybe Kefka has the ability to give false information in the text >_< that lying clown. Somebody find that text and quote it! |
I know Kefka being the poisonner makes sense because of him poisoning the water supply of Doma in FFVI but from the flavor text it's not Kefka who did the poisoning but Sephiroth as a kind of last attack (revenge).
Signature goes here!
okay, if hypothetically my target was switched, then my investigation would be on that new target, my power isnt able to stop that, just anything that might otherwise affect the result on the person who is targeted, if this makes sense.

Well, according to Heph, it was unlimited :P
I'm trying to take the standpoint of being in the game. To me, that role was impossible........it's actually more possible now that I know that was only 2 reflects. But it is still pretty ridiculous, considering that he had a chance to actually kill mafia with reflect.
Oh, and I'm sorry for pointing out the importance for clarity and such. I'm really the last person that should be chiding you for that. It's just that I think you should know that it IS due to poor expression and bad timing. Of all the times to be making mistakes, that was a bad one. You should have obtained 100% certainty from dtewi, and I would have never even raised an eyebrow honestly.
Anyway, I'm sorry for the back and forth. :P
