Forums - Microsoft - Halo : Combat Evolved is nothing special...

These threads always turn out the same. On the one hand we have the PS3 fans who are admittedly not big shooter fans playing a game thats a decade old and complaining. Thats like if someone wasn't a big fan of jrpg's played FF7 and bitched about the outdated gameplay.

And then of course we have the elitist PC players that like to say how Halo wasn't anything new and had been done a hundred times before on the PC. Hell you can even come out with a list of innovations that Halo brought about, things that had never been seen on PC or consoles but don't bother, you see elitist PC gamers have a clause in their contract that says they have to be a dick to everything that threatens their PC's, which is pretty much everything at this point.

Just ignore them, nothing you say will make them change their minds. In life you will inevitably come across close minded and ignorant people, more often than you would like. The sooner you learn how to deal with them the better off you will be.

well said bro

You wanna have your opinion, then you have to respect different opinions as well.

Play the campaign in co-op, with someone who likes the game.  I love Halo CE but I was never a huge fan of playing it alone.

Halo on PC? Yep, it's a pretty average game. But on Xbox and with controller...  I must say it's pretty cool. Especially multiplayer!

I'm playing with my PS3 controller fixed to the PC.. so....

Maybe because you're like 9 years late. How many 9 year old games are still fun today? Not that many.

There are lots of old games that are still fun. Lots of Halo fans still think this one has the best campaign mode.

it does...

No it doesn't. It's like horrible. The story sucked.

Halo 3 redeemed the series for me.

Anyone whos actually played it wouldnt say that

The PC version is shit.

The fact you can sit on your couch and play it co-op campaign with a buddy on the Xbox version extended the SP tenfold.

Back in 2001 it had top graphics, top controls, top gameplay, top multiplayer, top everything really.

I gave Halo credit for being basically the FPS of its time. But overall the game isn't that good. However the online was fun for its time as well.

Now I know you haven't played it.

lol... excellent.

Uhh it's in my games collection. Would you like me to upload screenshots?

Also in regards to Killzone 1 vs Halo 1

I would give it this

Story: Killzone

Gameplay: Halo

Multiplayer: Halo

Halo 1 was the better game back then, but oh how the tables turned with the sequel.

In my regards to Killzone 1 vs Halo 1

I would give it this.

Story: Halo

Gameplay: Halo

Multiplayer: Halo

Also in my regards to Killzone 2 vs Halo 2

I would give it this.

Story: Halo 2

Gameplay: Halo 2

Multiplayer: Halo 2

Well, if you aren't a FPS fan then I can see where you're coming from.  As for me, Halo: CE is the only campaign that I was able to finish in the series, and trust me when I say it took a great effort on my part.  I'm usually a multiplayer fan and most of the time I don't have the patience for the single player.  The campaign for Halo: CE was good but since it doesn't have online multiplayer I could only play the single player portion of it.  I didn't play a Halo game until 2008 so I was seven years late to the Halo party lol.

Halo: CE was the first console FPS that I thought was actually fun. So it gets my vote as an excellent game even if it hasn't aged well. I remember I was living in dorms at the time and some guy handed me a controller and said "give it a go". In 5 minutes I was actually able to control the game properly and I was starting to have a heap of fun. This is something I never managed with any console FPS game previously. Prior to Halo I thought all consoles were strange piles of crap not even worth the materials used to make them, coming from a PC gaming heritage.

Tease.

im a Sony fan, never owned a MS console and Halo at the time pretty much gave consoles PC quality shooting. I loved Red Faction, MOH and Timesplitters  but at the time Halo took it to the next level. Now not quite sure Halo 3 felt like 2 with better graphics ODST was an expansion pack but Reach looks really good Im gonna have to convince my 360 friends to get it
