Wow, Leo-J trolls the 360 all the time and never gets banned, but two people call him out and get banned? I always thought the vgchartz staff were biased, but now I have proof.

You are soo sooo soooo extremely correct in many many many ways.

As far as I know 360 trolling isn't a ban but Playstation trolling is.

*sighs* Both are bannable. However, we are humans, not robots. We don't see every post made. If you see someone trolling, then report the post! The perception of PS trolling being bannable is probably because we have more Sony fans on the site, and thus, more people report those posts. This draws our attention to them, and we can take action.

As for things like this thread and leo-j's pattern of posting them, do I care for them? No. But they are properly sourced, and offer up fair discussion for debunking, like some have done here. Our job as moderators is to deal with rule violations, not stifle discussion. Both good and bad news comes out, and we will let both be discussed. We will act when people start making baseless accusations, and troll a system or its users, or outright flame a member for their thoughts. I'm not seeing that in leo-j's posts, and thus, I have no leg with which to act on.

So if I find and post a negative article about the playstation move,I won't get banned. As long as it's a legitimate article, right? lol

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2787368/5_reasons_youll_hate_the_playstation_pg2.html?cat=19---- what about this one. Is this one banable. lol

yes that is a random preson stating unproved facts, who is not even a professional and cannot backup his facts with any real evidence, and probably has not had any time with the move... good luck with that one pretty sure it's flamebait

it's the future of handheld

What is being shown on the screen of dance central is the computer video for you to follow, it is not actually tracking your movements as much as you think it is. Most likely it tracks specfic body parts when they are called for as input. Like, say the game tells you to raise your arm, the game has only been shallowly tracking your arm, but now that it's a vital part of the input, it puts all its power into tracking that movement.

By no means is it showing you on the screen or tracking your entire movement. I'm sure when it releases there will be all kinds of videos on youtube showing how little movement you can actually do to get a high score.

Dance Central does show you on screen, it is a little silhouette on the right hand side.  It probably isn't even tracking for specific body parts.  They are most likely using the depth point cloud to test against an expected depth point cloud and based on how close they are, determine the accuracy of the dance move.

i agree that some motions will be detected by kinect, however some of the faster movements may not be detected correctly, this is due to the 30fp limitation, sorry guys, i have seen dance central videos where yes it is tracking the whole body but a guy was dancing very badly to it and still managed to get a very good score, this leads me to think it is not tracking it as precisely as you all think

Just an opinion, but I have to get hands on with kinct to confirm my thoery of kinect being to slow for fast punches, so be nice ppl as this is just as bad as calling move a wii-copy right now,....

Thats likely by design, it's a GAME after all.  You would have to be a trained dancer to perfectly match all the moves in the game.  It's like playing drums in Rock Band (same company), there is a some leeway given to how close to the note you need to be for it to be registered correctly.  I've seen some friends play who get good scores but if you actually listen to what they're hitting the beat is very inconsistent, you wouldn't say that that person is performing a good rhythm.

Also worth noting is that the game comes with different skill levels and it is a pretty safe bet that nobody is playing on Ibiza hard core mode in the public offerings the game has been demonstrated to date.

Pretty much how it goes... for shame.

So you're accepting my challenge? I'll start a thread trolling the PS3 and you start a thread personally insulting forum members, as those two did earlier in this thread shortly before they got banned. We'll see who gets a longer ban/who gets a ban at all :P

I can tell you that if I see either of these, I will act on both. And you can't really go by the length of the ban; it's based on your prior moderations that determines the length. Someone who habitually trolls systems and gets caught will have a longer ban than someone who loses it once and goes after another user.

I've given up reporting people in the Microsoft forum because I don't think that any of my reports have ever lead to anything, sometimes I wonder if some of them were actually read.

Here's the last thing I reported for example:

(In yet another Halo bashing thread, has any other game or series on VGChartz ever been bashed as much?)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=116047&page=1#

Two of AbbathTheGrim's posts:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3629392

"I just played it yesterday in my Uni's PC. Halo should have stayed in PC along with Microsoft."

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3629427

"I personally don't like Microsoft in the console market. I don't want them as competition for Sony and Nintendo. My two cents."

I mean does that really belong in a thread discussing a game?

Hrm... well, I don't see every alert (I'm not going into specifics), but I've not seen the first one before. However, the edit log shows that he has edited the post, and as is now, an opinional post with no flames. As for the other 2, I've also not seen those, but I have looked into it, and issued a warning on it, which is the proper first step for us to do.

Alas, the one flaw in my otherwise perfect plan :P

Every since I think it was late 2008/early 2009 the mod staff was shuffled moderation has gone to crap, specially concerning 360 trolling.

In the old days mods would read the forum and check post history which resulted in waaay better moderation.

These days they just manage the report queue so without background information on the poster everything is considered "just opinion". So trolling is a free for all game again, specially on the X360 subforum. Try something like this talking about the Wii or the PS3 and you'll be toast.

Heck, I took TWO bans for stating a truth. For the record, one was a truth which shed a bad light on PS3 posters, the other shed a bad light on X360 posters.

That's why I suggest anyone who's serious about a gaming forum to just join GAF. Moderators there are quirky but they can spot a troll miles away. To give you an idea, Crazzyman lasted months if not years here. On GAF, didn't last a week.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I do not want to start some sort of forum moderators complaing post but it is unfortunate that two bans have been issued when it probably should simply have been locked.

The original article from the BBC is a lot more informative. The article linked here is a flamatory snippet of that article which actually has very little to do with how the Kinect system will be used for gaming and is a sound bite from somebody working on something which sounds like it has been superseded by commercially off the shelf products, nothing to unusual for the academic community.

Of course this is in hindsight and actually haveimg the time to follow everything through to the natural conclusion is not always possible but I do think this thread got through the net.

GAF sucks, nothing but japanophiles talking about niche titles that barely anybody cares about.
There is plenty of 360 trolling in there aswell, especially in the npd, forza, and kinect threads.
