Forums - Microsoft - kinect can't capture fast movement?

Wow!  Thanks Leo.  I had been planning on buying Kinect but thanks to this valuable new information I have decided I will no longer be buying Kinect and instead will be buying the Move bundle.  Going forward I will no longer be purchasing any Microsoft products and will instead be buying Sony products and games only.  Thanks again!

(Is that the response you were hoping for?)

leo-j is the one guy who would claim, in 2007, that Sony will pass 360 in sales the year after (that's right folks, according to Leo-J PS3 was gaining momentum at the 500 price point...)

He has the capacity to analyse of a 9 year old...

...and since 2007, has posted some of the worst contributions of this website (as mentioned in the first page of this thread)

It's been 3 years now and his bias remains the same, help him.

This is nothing but a flame-bait thread.

I would expect both Move and Kinect to have trouble with truly fast movements - neither has the specification of a camera designed to capture truly fast movements.  However, from what I've seen both should do fine in terms of the games/experiences they seem designed to support.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Kinect will be fine. First batch of games won't be perfect. I think Move will suffer the same although Sony should learn a lot from games using Wii-mote.

Wow, Leo-J trolls the 360 all the time and never gets banned, but two people call him out and get banned? I always thought the vgchartz staff were biased, but now I have proof.

It's only going to get worse when Kinect launches and is a massive success.  I mean just look at the latest NPD thread  on NeoGAF with the 360 leading in both console hardware and software sales and there are people trying to spread FUD about the platform.  Haters gonna hate and we're just going to have to continue to put up with it because of how successful the 360 is and will continue to be.

I'll give 8/10 to this thread!

There is boxing in Kinect Sports and I've seen gameplay of it work quite well. Recognizes blocks, uppercuts, jabs, hooks, etc in normal punch speed. Maybe it won't be perfect 1:1 if it doesn't capture every millimeter of a punch but unless the players are professional boxers I don't think anyone will notice.

but the move can though.. that's a serious disadvantage..

As I said Kinect works fine for boxing on Kinect Sports. Time will tell if a new more sophisticated boxing title is released for Kinect. Move will not track head or feet movement on the Z-axis so its not full 1:1 except on the Move controller. Unless you strap one to your head its only going to track your hands 1:1. How you going to dodge punches with the move? Doesn't track your feet. If you use the Nav controller you can only punch with one hand. Kinect is better set up for boxing so if it doesn't work on Kinect it won't work any better on the Move.

kinect isn't 1:1 though =/ And as far I know boxing is mostly an upper body sport..

you would be sadly mistaken
