Hey guys, I'm one of the developers at Epicenter making Rock of the Dead.
First of all, thanks for taking an interest in our game! And yes, we're absolutely HUGE fans of Typing of the Dead. Such a great game, especially when played co-op. And that aesthetic is something we tried to put into Rock of the Dead.
And yeah, we know it's not the prettiest game in the world. Basically, we're a small, independent studio with very limited resources, so we have to choose very carefully how we want to spend those resources. We decided that the whole point of playing (and creating) games is to have fun, and that's what we focused on. The game is just purely fun! And at the end of the day, isn't that the point of games?
Anyway, it's got a fun and campy sci-fi/horror story staring Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day, and we've got a bunch of Rob Zombie songs (Rob was so interested in the game, we ended up writing him into the story...there's a cool unlockable Rob Zombie boss battle!). The rest of the music is "rawked out" versions of well-known classical pieces performed by some bands in the Pittsburgh indie scene. However, we don't consider ourselves part of the rhythm genre...we're definitely an action-based game that has musical elements. And we'll be coming out at $40 (I REALLY hate how PS3 and 360 games seem to come out at $60 just because they are on the PS3/360. That's lame).
If you want more info, we're really active on our Facebook page (facebook.com/rockofthedead)
And again, thanks for checking us out, and for giving a new game a chance!
