There was talk about a ten minute version of some kind of live action spot a while back. I think the first time I heard that, it was BenVTrigger (sorry if I'm wrong) who mentioned it.

no you're right, it all started in the official Bungie.net forums.  I go there all the time and someone posted that Urk and Sketch from Bungie had said that there would be a 10 minute trailer for Reach.

It seems to have been a misunderstanding though and what was meant was that if you add up the full version of all the live trailers for Reach it comes out to around ten minutes which is true.  Deliver Hope, Birth of a Spartan, and the Remember Reach website videos together add up to about 10 minutes worth of content.

Why is it that Reach(a planet full of spartans) fell, yet 1 spartan kept earth from being destroyed?

Read the books Fall of Reach and First Strike. They will answer your question.

*Spoiler*

Master Chief isn't the only Spartan to survive the attack on Reach, even though the games make it seem like he is. Also he survived as he was not on the planet but on a space dock trying to destroy some important information. He than left on the Pillar of Autumn and went to Halo, which is where Halo CE takes place

*End Spoiler*

The books were pretty awesome..but the books and game are from what i understoor two different story lines. Great trailer tho...they should make a movie...instead we got district 9...

I am pretty sure the books are canon. The Fall of Reach ties into Halo CE and First Strike bridges the gap between Halo CE and Halo 2. Also Ghosts of Onyx introduces the Spartan IIIs which is who you are playing in Halo Reach.

In the third book i believe master chief goes back to Reach and finds out a few spartans have survived. He get them off Reach and back to earth. Ghosts of Onyx is much later...i think its right before the end of Halo 3. The characters in Ghosts of Onyx are young teen spartans who are taught by one of the Spartans who was on Reach.  The new Spartans armor isnt like the Mjolnir suite the old spartans have..it sorta can active camo..but it cant take the sort of damage the old suite could. I might be wrong..but if the books were in tune with the game..then we should have seen and heard of other Spartans being brought back in Halo 2.

The books are 100% canon, you just kinda have your facts all mixed up.

Ghosts of Onyx takes place from the years 2531 - 2552.  It tells the story of the creation of the Spartan III's on the shield world Onyx.  They were a top secret class that was created after the Spartan II's such as John 117, Master Chief.  Their purpose for being made was they would be cheap super soldiers who could be sent on suicide missions deemed to dangerous to waste a Spartan II on.  Spartan II's were considered to be for the most part the better soldiers but were MUCH more expensive to create thus destroying any chance of there being a second class of Spartan II's after the original batch.  Kurt and Ackerson are the ones tasked with training these Spartan III's on a world hidden from all records.  The planet is Onyx.

Kurt and Ackerson spend years creating multiple classes of S3's nearly all of whom are killed on their missions such as Pegasi Delta in the year 2545.  Interestingly enough a few survive and our then hidden away in secret by ONI, one of whom is Noble Six who you play as in Halo Reach along with the rest of the S3's in Noble Team.  Eventually the Covenant learn of Onyx by intercepting a transmission sent by Dr. Catherine Halsey  and come to the planet.

By this time Onyx has already been awoken and is revealed to be an ancient Shield World built by the Forerunners to protect themselves from both the Flood and the Firing of the Halo rings.  There are Sentinals everywhere and Kurt as well as the last few surviving members of his final S3 program are under attack from both Covenant and Forerunner forces.  In the end *SPOILERS* Kurt is killed defending his team as well as Dr. Catherine Halsey, and the S2's Fred and Kelly as they enter the closing entrance to the Shield World.  Once inside the survivors are saved from the Covenant forces but are now trapped with no way to communicate with the outside world.  Also Onyx has hidden itself in Slipspace making it nearly impossible to discover.

Basically thats why no one ever learns of what happens on Onyx and is never mentioned in the mainline Halo trilogy.  However some stuff such as Spartan 3's and Pegrasi Delta itself are directly mentioned in Halo Reach the game.  I could also explain how the other books fit into canon but I've been as brief as possible here and it still is a massive post so I'd rather not! lol

Yeah I know I would have loved it. I'd really like a movie or like I've seen other people say around the interwebz, either a live action series on HBO or something like Halo Legends.

And thank you for explaining the embedding. I've never taken the time out to learn and I'm pretty much a noob with things like that. Now if can execute it next time.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I'm not a fan of The Lord of the Rings flicks (I thought the first was good but the rest...meh) so Peter Jackson doesn't sound too appealing to me. I like what Blomkamp did with D9, gritty and somewhat of an old school 80's sci-fi feel, at least to me. I think if there is a movie that whomever does it, they can't be afraid to capture that gritty feel. I'm so afraid of some kind of over the top approach just to cash in on the brand.  I will say that I'm good with just about all of the Halo live action stuff that has come out and that 343 seems really dedicated to keeping it tight. I really do like the idea of a series too.

well these small clips are good

but that does not necessarily say that a movie will be the same

yeah for a hardcore halo fan,a long feature explaining the story and and more would be awesome and they will go watch it but not so much for the general public

kind of like Final Fantasy, where people went to watch it because of the franchise's name and good CG animation.yeah Halo would have a continued story from the games but a long feature would be boring a it wouldn't be what movies normally do

many like the short clips cause it beautiful, has great background music and it creates that tense and hype ahead of the release of the game which is everybody is gunned for

but when you just sit there and watch an hour or two of people fighting or shooting, you would get bored and the story wouldn't be interesting as it would be the simple old alien vs us

which is why alot of people hated avatar story,it was just in reverse though where we were hurting them and avatar had alot of hype, marketing and it was the COOL thing and also had the COOL 3D

of HALO to come out and be a movie and be successfull and also please to the casual non-halo fans,it would have to change alot of what it i in video games

games like uncharted have the best of chance of being on screen and successful, like indiana jones and national treasure films.

How?  I thought the Lord of the Rings trilogy was (and still is) amazing

Well you are not alone in thinking that, that's for sure. I don't want to get into this whole big thing about what I don't like about it. I'm not saying it was terrible and there were definitely times that I was wowed. Overall though it just didn't do it for me, I feel as if their is this underlying sense of corniness to the whole thing. It's totally a taste thing and I know I'm probably in the minority amongst my gaming/sci-fi loving peers. All I know is that I haven't had the urge to watch the The Two Towers or Return of the King since I initially saw them. I consider my desire to see a movie a second, third, fourth time and so on, the litmus test. Even though I've seen Terminator a million times, I could still watch it right now. That reminds me, I gotta get that on BR.
