It just bugs me that sometimes instead of responding to my response you just go off somewhere else, and I have no way of knowing if you
-concede the point but just don't feel like admitting it
-simply have no rebuttal prepared
-consider my point so ridiculous it is unworthy of response
-etc.

It's generally going to be C.  Not so much ridiculious so much as... doesn't really matter.

IF THE ANSWER DOESN'T MATTER THEN WHY DID YOU ASK THE QUESTION

I'm confused to which question your talking about in the first place.  The "Did he spend many many times over his nations average GDP in a short period of time" question?

That one, I just thought it was silly that he was going to be be able to spend away all that money so fast and also get no value in return for it.

So what you're saying is, you have asked me MANY questions to which you think the answer doesn't matter?

But no, I will tell you what I am referring to, although in the context of the conversation I considered it obvious.

(severely abridged, not actual quotes except for first part)
Kasz:  "If you were conned with a forgery... you wouldn't want your money back?"
Final-Fan:  "He would have little chance of actually recovering the money"
Kasz:  "..."
FInal-Fan:  "Well?"
Kasz:  "It wouldn't matter that he wouldn't be able to get the money back"
Final-Fan:  "Then why did you make getting the money back your response in the first place"
Kasz:  "What are you talking about"
Final-Fan:  "GAAAH"

Except, you don't know that he would have little chance to get his money back.  You are just guessing.
Like I said.  I specifically said neither of us are qualified to tell if he could or couldn't get his money back for sure.
I doubt he does either.   Either way i'm sure he'd want to try.
Or if failing that, make the person who took the money pay.

The thing is, when I asked you why you didn't respond to my argument, you didn't say "I think your confidence is unwarranted", you said "it doesn't really matter".  You are challenging me on this now, but you weren't before -- just diverting to other subjects.

So you know what?  I'm done.  When you're doing revisionist history on something you said like five posts ago (and considering how long this has already dragged on) I'm just not going to do it anymore.  See you next time I guess.

Its'.... not revisionist history.  I said like twice that neither of us know how kenya works.  The second time.

"Once again it's a matter of not knowing how Kenya works.  I mean, when your average countryman makes 250 dollars a year...  chances are even with him spending like crazy, he's still got a good chunk of that money left."

Honestly, i'm surprised we were even still argueing this.  I've more then made my original  point.   I'm surprised you haven't conceded it.  There are layers opon layers of possibilities and unanswered questsions... a lot of which brought up by you instead of me.

It's really silly to not have any doubt on the matter or claim all efforts have been made to remove doubt.

Quite honestly, your efforts to convince me otherwise have just opened up more questions and raised the doubt meter.

Still doesn't seem likely... but it seems more likely then it did before you stepped in the thread.

I'd put the odds at a good 7% or so at the moment.

I have never said ALL efforts have been made to remove doubt.  I really have no idea, NO.  IDEA.  where you got that impression, but you must disabuse yourself of it.  (I mean, we both agree that he could in fact direct the hospital to release those records, but has not yet done so.  I mentioned it at the top of this page.  QED.)  I just think it would not be that effective at convincing the remaining doubters, even though I'm willing to believe it would convince you personally.  Although since you are 93% confident he's a citizen you aren't really the type of people I'm thinking of ... I wonder which type is more prevalent in that 12% unsure.  The 11% is a lost cause IMO.

Personally, in his place I might not do it either just to avoid setting a precedent of giving in to conspiracy theorists' demands.

P.S.  Resisting urge ... to restart ... debate I think will go nowhere ...

Okay, I was mistaken when I said you hadn't challenged me on it ... the "it doesn't really matter" still gets me, but whatever.

Also, this is a repost for teh visibility since AFAIK this thread is permagreen for you too, and I had said I was "done" so you might not be watching it.

It is perma green.

AS I've said many... many many times before.

It's not about removing all doubt.   It's about doing everything you can to remove all doubt.

Or to put it anotherway it's like the Kobayashi Maru.

It's not about whether you succeed or fail... but what you do in the situation.
