Forums - Gaming - Do you think the pseye could get 3rd party Kinect ports?

Been wondering this for a while now, just wondering what everyone else thinks.

First off as we are all aware, the pseye is basically an inferior version of Kinect. So with that in mind, if a 3rd party makes a game for Kinect, do you think that we are more likely to see versions of games that don't feature Move but only the pseye?

Kinda like how some games appear on ps3/360 but then something similar but different appears on the Wii?

Games like Kung fu Live,

shows there's still interest in the pseye.

If Kinect proves to be the runaway hit that everyone expects it to be, will the pseye get some 3rd party leftovers or will everyone be too upped on the Move bandwagon to care about the pseye as a standalone item?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

No I don't think PSEye alone can get 3rd party ports. You really need the Move controllers to detect depth movement.

Kung Fu Live is nothing like Kinect games. It is like the old Eyetoy games. You punch and kick to the left and right of you, the game must be 2D since the webcam has no depth sensor and cannot read any motion you make on the z-axis.

Kinect games are capable of much more than the PSEye. I think most people still don't understand the fundamental limitations of a basic webcam like PSEye vs. an infrared depth sensor like Kinect.

That's why I used the comparison of ps3/360 games and Wii or psp versions of them...?

Always funny how a cam with a specially built software become a basic webcam...

On topic: I think we might see modify port using eye and move. Where they might keep graphic, interface, music ect but modify the gameplay a bit in order to track differently.

But really, what Kinect games have you seen so far that have you controlling your characters movement forward in a 3-D world?  I know I haven't seen any.  All the games I have seen are limited to a "2-D" plane.  You could do Kinect Adventures and Kinectimals, and probably every other game for Kinect's launch with the PSEye.  It would just be using different techniques to deliver the same end result.

I can think of Ricochet, you can kick the ball at different distance. But thats about it for the launch line up.

I could see it happening but if Kinect does have better body tracking the ports could be seen as inferior version that is dumbed down to work with the PS Eye, which would hurt the sales and cause less ports.  That's assuming that Kinect is much better at motion tracking, but I'll wait to pass judgement until Kinect is released and proves that it is much better motion tracker.

Edit:  Added an if to first sentence.
