Forums - PC - What happened with Stardock and Elemental War of Magic?

I happen to stumble on the game info and thought it could be similar to Master of Magic. Only to find out Stardock released it buggy and crashing and such (mainly with ATI graphics card).

Anyone have played this and how is the game?

I don't want to spend $60 on the game only to find out it's not working on my computer. Sounds like they'll need v1.1 before fixing the crashes.

Good write-up here- http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/09/03/blindness-caused-elemental-release-fail/

Sounds like a complete clusterfuck.

What does it mean when the leader of Stardock says:

"Releasing it in August wasn't a financial decision. Hell, Stardock's games aren't funded by PC game revenue. I wanted you guys to get the game ASAP. "

What are they funded by if not revenue???

Sounds like I'll wait for them to fix the mess before buying.

I'd assume he doesn't mean the revenue generated by their direct involvement in PC game publishing and development, but rather their applications/ DD business, ie Object Desktop/ Windows Blinds/ Impulse?

What's that? Non-gaming programs made by Stardock?

Yep.
