You would be alright. This is a super prequel of the series.

As wargram pointed out, since this is the prequel to the entire KH storyline, there isn't any issue regarding this being your first KH. Actually, it will allow you to make more sense out of events of previous KH games, should you play them in the future.

Ok. thanks. This will most likely be my first KH. I could get a hold of the games quite easily, what's really difficult is to find a PS2 or PS3 with BC to play them these days. I don't want a PS2, it's too cumbersome for my setup to add more cables, no way. And sadly the BC PS3s are too rare and unreliable, sigh....

Well, in a more extreme case, should you not find a viable way to play them, you can always try out PS2 PC emulation. I've played both KH's (created an ISO out of my own games) on PCSX 2.0 and both have good compatibility with the current build, and you don't need to have a high end PC to use this current build (my laptop handles it quite nicely with 4xAA and 1280x800 resolution). 

IGn and their stupid scores for graphics...it never ends.

anywho yeah the game is doing great with review scores :D

and btw everyone, with all the HD Remake collections, anyone thought of a KH HD? :S

The KH games barely make any sense anyway, especially as they are spread on so many platforms

That would be great, but with KH RE:Coded and KH 3DS, S-E seems to be with their hands full in KH games already.

Well, after finally playing KH 358/2 a couple of weeks ago, it made me comprehend a bit better the Organization's story, which was a big hole in KH: COM - KH2 plots. If a KH fan sticks to the main entries alone, the story creates a lot of confusion, due to the plot holes that both games have, thus I agree that they're spreading the lore and story too much.

To play them all you have to have a certain type of phone, a DS, a PSP and a PS2 (or BC PS3). I don't. I can barely remember what happened in KH 2 beyond it just being awesome

Well the cell phone version is now being converted into a DS game, so that's one less hassle  

The same thing happened with the FFVII compilation, too many games spread in too many consoles and even media formats. That dilutes the feeling of continuity of the story too much.
