Forums - Sony Discussion - Killzone 2 impressions and questions.

Some of you may know that I recently bought a PS3. I also picked up a few games with Killzone 2 being one of them. Personally I like the game. Its a pretty fun shooter that does some things very well. The visuals are one of the things that you take notice of. It is definitely one of the best looking shooters out there. I also like the way the game feels and I don't see why some people complain about the weighted feel when I think Bad Company 2 has a more weighted feel than Killzone. Story in the campaign is mediocre but really what can you expect from an FPS. One of my complaints is there is a lack of assault rifle types in the game. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the campaign and as far as assault rifles I've only noticed 2 different ones with 1 submachine gun type. I really like the multiplayer as well but I definitely have some questions about it.

My first question is what is up with the spawn points in the game? I read somewhere online that there are spawn grenades and I'm assuming you acquire them by leveling up? If so when do you get them and how do they work? I also want to know what these random turrets are and the machines flying in the air are. Are these something you set up in spawn points? Is the class system similar to Bad Company 2? How many guns are in the multiplayer? Also I'd like to know how some of the different game modes work and what are the best. Thanks for the help.

I believe Guerrilla Games could have one of the top shooters with Killzone 3 if they fix some of the problems that are in Killzone 2. It could be up there with the Bad Companys and Call of Dutys. I'm not going to compare it to Halo because I don't feel like starting a flame war and the games are entirely different. I do believe Halo:Reach could be the best FPS out there but that's a different thread :)

I platinumed Killzone 2 so I have played it in and out.

I assume you are talking about the multiplayer, but you get the spawn grenades when you unlock the tactician class (I believe)

Each class has a secondary ability, and the tacticians secondary ability is to send out the flying robots.  If I remember correctly you need to work up to and unlock each classe's secondary ability.

The ground turrets are sent out by the engineer class.

You start out with only the basic class available, but as you gain experience you'll unlock them all.

There honestly isn't a wide variety of guns in the game, and I agree taht is a bit of a dissapointment.

Cool thanks for the information. How many flying robots can you send out? Also how many turrets can  you place? I hope it isn't possible to spam these all over the map. I hope Killzone 3 has more weapons.

Your entire team can only have 2 Flying bots and (I think) 3 Ground Turrets out at one time.

Its good because people can't spam it, but it can be annoying if you want to send out a flying bot but you can't because your team already has 2 out ha.

Oh yeah I forgot to ask what are the advantages of being in a squad? Is it just to be able to talk to your squad only? I don't think there is squad spawning like Bad Company 2 because I didn't see that option when I was playing earlier.

I agree that its pretty broken. I loved the story and the graphics, but the controls really need work as well as other mechanics of the game.

I'm fairly sure that you can spawn on your squad leader, but I forget how (I want to say its something like hit square instead of x when you want to spawn)  You can only spawn on your squad leader though, so if he is dead it won't be an option.  (I'm completely pulling this from memory, I haven't played in a year, so I may be off a little)

Thats pretty much the only advantage of a squad
