Not really an improvement but not worse either. It's not something I really care about but it's nice to see something new once in a while.
Maybe the new one is slightly better but there's no reason to change a logo intro which already works well and people are familiar with.

Agreed. This new one is cool, the older one was good too, so it's a draw.
