Forums - Microsoft - Hows Lost Odyssey doing?

oh well, it could have sold negative copies and i still will buy a 360 for this game (when the system stops sounding like a hovercraft ) sometime in the future.

Holy crap did we over estimate that game...

I'm anxious to pick LO up here in the states!

Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand.

I'd say wait for MC data....Hardware has consistently been higher on MC lists.

Either way, it's dissapointing. Had LO done more software, more hardware would of sold. Since it was somewhat low (60k), it couldn't move hardware, because appearently those that wanted the game already have a X360, which is odd. You'd think that more than 3k people would jump on the LO train.

Who knows, it could have good legs.

Yeah I figured at worst Lost Odyssey would do Blue Dragon numbers for both software and hardware. I really don't know what to tell MS to do at this point. I am sure Blue Dragon 2 will sell reasonably well but I don't know what MS can do to move hardware in Japan at this point.

I feel like MS somehow succeded in Japan they have taken many PS games even if many of them are time exclusives. The hardware maybe is not that much bigger but they have slowed down the ps3 in Japan and that is good for them.

pricedrop, but finally in black, so not a really nice option

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Microsoft can. It's just about increasing the diversity of the library, and nothing more or less.

The Xbox 360 has shown that when a game from a new genre comes out, it does well.

Considering the spikes with the following games:

Ridge Racer 6
Dead or Alive 4
Enchanted Arms
N3
Dead Rising
Blue Dragon
IdolM@ster
Gears of War
Trusty Bell
Halo 3
Ace Combat 6
Dynasty Warriors 5

*most* of those games were fairly new genres to open up for the X360 (3 RPGs listed though). When any given new genre was opened up on the X360, the X360 sold fairly well.

The X360 has a solid base of users that are now buying alot of games - X360 games in the top-50 are a now weekly occurance. 2 years ago, despite being the only next-gen system, rarely had a game chart for more than 1 week in the top 50. In the past 3 months, there have been multiple titles in the top-50.

So what matters now is that MS focuses on diversifying the library, and aquire a few more exclusives. I think that DMC4, RE5, SH5, and the other various PS3/X360 Multi-plats will help move hardware for the X360, but it needs more exclusives like Banjo Kazooie 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, and Infinite Undiscovery.

That and MS needs to hire decent marketing firms in Japan.

Another thing I thought might be good: MS needs to "partner" with a local publisher to re-brand and market the X360 - like Capcom, Namco, or Sega. If they could "get in bed" with any of the 3, and get more exclusives, and a better brand image, it might do wonders for the system.

07. [360] Lost Odyssey (Microsoft) - 55,000 / NEW

If Software is anything to go by Media Create will be worse. Either way, LO failed, no matter which way you look at it. This game after doing 40k first day only managed 15k for the rest, that usually says next week is around 10k and if that happens, say good night to Lost Odyssey even coming close to Blue Dragon sales in Japan.
