mm and i discussed this a bit over steam chat yesterady. Assuming this rumoured feature comes to pass I am confident that PS2 support will only be for PS3s that already can play disc based PS2 games. This is simply the most reasonable thing for the time being. While they may enable emulation ps2 playback, we have no idea how good this is going to be; I figure that an emulation-only solution would be on a per title basis, and the vast majority of games simply wouldn't work or would run poorly.

All I'm saying is don't get your hopes up at all if you have a slim/non-bc ps3 and want to play ps2 games. Chances are some hopefuls are taking this rumoured feature out of context.

Why bother, just get a PS2 for $99, or PS2 emu on ur PC, both easy and cheap options available right here and now. Its a waste of time to jailbreak a HD console which got TONS OF NEW EXCLUSIVE to play old games, and end up being ban for the best FREE ONLINE service ever.

The reason we'll never see BC return is simple. They want to resell PS2 games. As long as people keep buying repacked PS2 HD collections, BC is going to remain dead in the water.
