Sony has just announced a new sony vaio laptop fully 3D!

3D laptops are really good actually, as long as they have a decent video card.

I am quite impressed at what he is able to run in 3D with the frame rates he is getting...30 fps on medium detail in 3D on Just Cause 2 is rpetty good for those specs.

With that said, Sony needs to release more info about this laptop...such as which 3D tech it supports and what kind of display it is.

If its the same tech as the 3D TV's currently for sale (HDMI 1.4)...this can be clasified as "fail of the week" as the current TVs don't actually work at 120 hz and don't support Nvidia 3D(which is the only way to go for PC 3D).

I doubt thats the case tho...those even look like Nvidia glases in the pic.

Have they released any details on the specs yet?

See this computer here? Yeah, well Sony's going to launch a laptop next year that will most likely look nothing like this. Intrigued? We thought you would be. Sony announced today that it will be launching at least one laptop next year (probably a mini-series of 'em) with a 3D-capable 240Hz LCD. The laptop will be using a built-in IR blaster to sync with your regular Bravia shutter glasses, but it's unclear whether the price of a laptop will get you a free pair of the precious specs. The prototype we got to look at here has a 16-inch 16:9 display, housed in a current F series chassis, but all that is of course subject to change when the final model lands. We do have to say, in comparison to some of the other 3D laptops we've seen, Sony's tech comes off looking pretty good, but there's nothing here to convince us this is anything beyond a niche luxury for now -- although an ability to use this screen as a 3D display for our PS3 might help us change our mind (we asked, the answer is no). Expect to hear more about this mysterious beast at next year's CES.

If it's already impressive in comparison, in an years time it will kick butt, that is all.

What is impressive? I don't see a single spec on that preview page. The writer is also very uneducated about 3D.

For example:

What 3D game drivers is this going to use? Sony shutter glasses don't work with Nvidia drivers so if thats all this laptop supports, that sucks...

No one cares that its 240 hz...120 hz is all you need for 3D, 240 hz just shows every frame twice... what is the pixel response time? GTG and Black to Black?

These are the things one should ask when buying a 3D laptop.
