Congratulations on playing a good game but slightly  overrated. It was the 3D graphics that made people go gaga over it.

FFVIII is better, and IX (for me) is the bes

You can get Ramuh Ifrit Neo and all that stuff at any time on Disc 3. They're not one time affairs.

You just have to beat a certain polygon that can rape you in 10 seconds and trade it for some master materia.

Oh yeah, the Earth Harp item, I totally forgot about that. Yet, that still doesn't mean that you actually get the Ramuh, Ifrit, Neo, Bahamut and Zero materias, just the overall master summon materia.

And for the amount of trouble to actually preparing to defeat that polygon, it's better not to miss those materia in the first place

Those are some WEAK levels, I was way stronger every time and I played this game like 50 times already. I was about level 30 when reaching the snake outside of Midgar, in the sands. That is pretty much my benchmark for training.

Do yourself a favor, as long as you're playing good JRPG's for your first time. Get these two immediately (if you already haven't):

Suikoden 2

Final Fantasy 10

I wasn't level 30 until Disc 2.

Overgrinding = No Challenge

Challenge = fun

Therefore, overgrinding = no fun.

What? That's grinding for the sake of grinding. You barely need to be at level 20 to kill the monsters around there. I was usually only lvl 35 by the end of disc 1 because there was no point being any higher.

When you finailly leave the towns and head twords the overworld.It really becomes a great and you defenitly do get some great freedom in a game like this.

How many hours did it take you to reach level 30? Also, did you already have all limit breaks at lvl 3 at that time? Plus, you must have also had quite the amount of Gil then, as well.

Again, the freedom is not that much, though the world map does give you a larger sensation of freedom  than an enclosed linear pathway. Not until the last end stretch of CD 1 do you actually get the ability to explore the majority of the world map without much restrictions or linearity.

Yeah, and that was the most fun part of the game.

Playing without materia... *grumblegrumble*
