Whens the Tokyo Game Show? 29th September or sooner?
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

September 16th 2010.
@wiilicious, But Nintendo won't be at TGS will they? What might happen, but hasn't been expected ( i dont think), is the announcement of PSP2. I guess you need to ask whether taking a punt now is worth it, and i believe it is.
As far as i can tell there are 3 big events coming up this month, and BEFORE Sep. 29 when Nintendo announce pricing and release date.
1 - Halo Reach
2 - Move launch
3 - August NPD
- I am thinking that since Move's preorders arn't very substantial, it might not have that much of an effect on Wii sales, atleast not untill closer to Christmas. Kinect is released in November so thats a while away yet.
- Halo Reach is certainly going to influence NPD results next month, so theres a bit of worry about its effect on Wii sales heading into Christmas. Not enough imo to drastically drop NTDOY stock though.
- NPD isn't likely to effect NTDOY much either, since the share is considerably undervalued now anyway. Still hanging around 34$.
I think now is a great time to be buying these shares. Im gonna dip in the next week and a half or so.

Hmm, i suppose you could call it interesting timing then? They've given their favoured third parties enough to time to produce quality launch titles, and now they're going to let anyone make games.

They posted a loss? If I recall correctly they made less profit. Loss happens when you don't have a profit and on top of that you even lose money, like Microsft with the Xbox brand till late 2008. Isn't it?

May have already been touched on, but you have a lose when you Sales Revenue is less then Coost of Goods Sold plus all other expenditures. Nintendo had an Operating Profit this year, which means they had a profit in the normal run of operations. They had a lose in another area (I beleive it was forign exchange). In the end, they had a net loss.
I think the launch date will be decided on what Sony does. Nintendo is waiting until after TGS to announce the date. If Sony plans to launch a device this year, expect the 3DS to try to meet it or beat it to market. If not, Nintendo will wait it out and will probably plan to launch it next year.
RELEASE DATE SEMI CONFIRMED, if you believe a Twit.

In a little over two weeks, we will know how much the 3DS will cost and when it’ll go on sale in Japan. But until then, it’s a given that we’ll see different speculation about those two desired details. Today, there is a rumor going around that the upcoming handheld will hit Japanese retailers on November 20. That claim comes from a Keys Factory designer, a company well-known for making different Nintendo accessories, including add-ons for the DSi LL. The designer tweeted the following:
“On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.”
At this point, the November 20 release date is certainly possible. Back in 2004, Nintendo revealed in September that the handheld would be out in early December. The only difference here is that the company would be planning a late November launch for the 3DS in Japan. At least we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out if this rumor is valid!

I think it was good timing. Now im officially invested in the company which i was so personally invested in throughout my childhood. Feels good man!!!!
