Forums - Gaming - Which 3rd Party Games will Microsoft Buy for 2011?

They already have project Kingdoms, but I'll just wait a few monts and get it with extra content on my PS3.

I think it's a Microsoft IP, which would make it impossible for a PS3 release.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Explain to me how it has nothing to do with it?  Obviously they saved hundreds of millions of dollars when Sony paid for the research.  And are using it to better the 360 by purchasing exclusives so it has everything to do with it.

So many here make fun of Microsoft for "purchasing 3rd party exlusives that Sony gets for free".  And I just showed you that 400 million pays for a lot of those.  So if anything Sony is just getting a little of its money back, they shouldn't have been so foolish drawing up CPU contracts.

If many here makes fun of "purchasing 3rd party LIMITED exlusives that Sony gets for free LATER ON" than go ahead and have fun of Sony for their CPU contracts, I dont care. Still, it got nothing to do in a discussion where we are criticizing how Microsoft spend their money in regards to first party/third party.

They could buy Prototype 2 if they want to and i wouldn't care. Infamous wooped it imo.

Microsoft has done really well in 1'st and 3rd party support.  What I think you meant to say was in regards to keeping them exclusive instead of being timed.

The economy is in the crapper, and Microsoft is simply afraid to invest tens of millions of dollars in new studios when they can just pay for new ip's.  When the economy comes back I would be willing to bet that by then Microsoft will indeed purchase a few more "hardcore studios".

OT:

Either way MS has enough money to purchase dozens of new IP's if and when they want too.   Or they could finance these games development.  I have no doubts they will do just fine next gen, with the Next Box.

Why would MS have to keep buying exclusives?  Their strategy has already done its damage.  Releasing the console early, having a lower priced console, exclusives early on, and a focus on online community has already established the 360 as the system to own in the USA.  All they have to do is reap the benefits, at this point.  The public image as a viable alternative to Nintendo and Sony is strong.  If anything, maybe some smaller, lesser known game will go the exclusive route in order to garner the hype that goes along with the "It's exclusive" tag.

I'm not sure ME3 will be both on PS3 or 360. if ME2 is a major flop on the PS3; which i think it could be considering its a year late and the first one is missing, i think MS could still land ME3 exclusive. either way its Bioware's loss, considering they recently said that selling 10 millions units is a hit. they have a lot of ground to make up with ME2 on PS3!!

Mass Effect was a far more important franchise for MS to keep than L4D, and I doubt that a new L4D game will come out next year when portal 2 is due to arrive. Maybe new DLC for L4D and/or L4D2 is about it.

It is possible that ME2 may not sell a bucket load on the PS3 when its released, but i think they already know this, as you get alot better sales/money when you release a product at the same time, because of all the hype. For Bioware, this is a way of developing the codebase to work on the PS3. Graphics, story, gameplay are all in place, so its easier and cheaper for them to do this work, sell ME2, get some money back from the shorter dev time and then they are ready for ME3 with a PS3 codebase they can use.

ME3 will be on both PS3 and Xbox I would suspect as that is where they will reap the benefits in sales, otherwise it is totally pointless making ME2 for PS3.
